Banning members and IR rank

I have had a problem recently with members that are being impatient.

For example I put a thread in the link exchange section. I asked members to add my link and then I will add theirs. I planned to leave it 24 hours and then add all the links in one go, rather than adding one link every hour or so (I have a lot of work on and can't sit waiting, looking at my thread to post a link every time I get a reply.

    I've invented "ImpatientRank".

Every time someone "votes" someone else is impatient, their ImpatientRank goes up. IR (ImpatientRank) is on a scale of 1 to 10.

So I propose banning all members with an IR5 or more. (While we're at it let's get rid of people think it's acceptable not to use good grammar in posts and pm....)

Rant over. (Also, if you're one of the members that keeps pm'ing me to put your link up, i'm about to do it now).

    Best regards

I sympathise - fortunately there aren't (in my experience) too many people like that - I just make a note of people who are unreasonably pushy and try to avoid dealing with them in the future. In most cases, people don't seem to mind a 24 hour delay with dealing to PMs on a forum.

My pet hate is people who PM you asking for something which is 'sort of related' to a thread you made. For example you post you are selling X kind of voucher, and say in the thread 'Please only PM if you wish to buy X voucher at Y price, anything else will be ignored' - and you STILL get messages asking for X voucher cheaper, or vouchers for another company. *fume*

Everyone makes mistakes when it comes to spelling and grammar - no doubt there's a ton in this post (my excuse is it's early, and I'm only half way through my first coffee) - but I do hate the people who post 'o i c' instead of 'Oh, I see'. There's a big difference between 'English is my second language' and 'I'm lazy'.

I keep joking that one day I'll set up a forum that requires an intelligence and personality test to join - elitist, I know, but it would be interesting to see how people behaved once they were deemed qualified to join. :-p

I think this is a bad idea, will it cause a lot more abuse, and the moderators will have to do more work to fix the abuse.

I think this idea is best avoided.
