Banners That Convert - Are there Any?

Ive been using phpadserver to rotate a series of about a dozen banners on my arcade (see below). All the merchants are from linkshare, and some of them are very well known...there "mostly" gaming related and even though im getting a few clicks here and there...I havent had a single conversion into a sale.

Does anybody know some good game related merchants that actually convert clicks?

Im seriously thinking of converting the space into a space for banner network activity...at least then i might get some traffic out of it...atm it seems like wasted real estate.

If anyone has some good merchants, please post the details and the network there with so i can check em out.

    Cheers,
    Nerz.

Using banners for CPA affiliate deals doesn't work. The conversion rate is so low you'll never make any money.

The only way I have found to make CPA work is to create a separate page to explain to the readers why you should buy from that advertiser. See my Hot Deals page for an example. This page is full of CPA deals but we present it such a way that the readers don't see them as advertising. They view as a valued added service.

That page moves over $200,000 of products each month.

Ya thats basically a comprehensive review site which is providing a whole new level of information...I guess banner advertising is the lazy way out :). I might do something else with the space in the short term, but you have provided me with some good ideas. Think i might have to do some reviews of some key products :). Even if it doesnt convert its bound to provide some nice google fodder.

Cheers for links as well ;)
