I am putting together an affiliate program for the site in my sig. Since I have never done this before, I was wondering what banner sizes and types are a must?

Are there any types / sizes that you think are a waste of time or would not use?

    Thanks!

The choice of Banner really depends on the type of product/services you want to promote as well as the venue you are targeting to put them on..

    The most common one is animated 468* 60 and 125 * 125...

the effectiveness would depend on Richness/Reach.

    Hi Stephen and all,

    IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT... IMPORTANT...

Whatever standard banner sizes you decide to use, make them one pixel smaller in each dimension. 467 x 59 for example.

A very large % of comsumers still have the versions of Norton that have ad blocking on by default. It strips all standard sized banners out of the page so you can't see them, much less click.

I'm sure everyone knows about this by now, but in case you don't or you want to see some examples of what Norton does or the other things it blocks, here it is. http://www.5staraffiliateprograms.com/norton-blocks-revenue.html
