    Hi
I have been running a football/soccer forum for over 5 years and was approached by somebody who would like to advertise on it.
The problem is i have absolutely no experience with marketing/advertising, but i was thinking about making a banner in the footer and a sticky post with information and pictures of the business, which is very relevant to the site.
Is this a good idea or how shall i go about it?
And most importantly how much can i ask?

I would really appreciate any input!
    Cheers
    Berni

P.S.: Hope this is the right section.

Try Google Admanager to manage your website's ad spots. You'll also see how ads on your website will perform. You can charge clients buy clicks, days or number of impressions. Admanager will take care of the stats. It is free.
Advertising cost in general is related to the traffic of the website. The higher your traffic the more you can charge for the ad spots. How many uniques visits page is getting or how many impressions. Check out this article: How Much Should I Charge for my Advertising Space?

Should try put banner at up position of the site.
And the pricing is around $5/CPM or it will higher depend on the majority of your traffic origin.
