Hi im looking into setting up a blog and maybe having a forum section. The blog is a general newspaper blog that will feature , technology ,world news, entertainment,politics. I know i will not be in a position to advertise on the site for quite some time until i have a decent amount of traffic but i was reading that forums do not earn as much from advertising and that some advertisers will not work with forums the way they do on blogs but im not sure why this is? Lets say for example i had a "cars" section on my forum could i not place a banner ad that would throw up something auto related when the user clicks on the"cars" category? From what i was reading forums are not good for advertisers because of the audience that they attract and that it does not usually cater as good a returm for a niche product than as a blog in a related field such as diet pills being advertised on a diet blog with a medium amount of traffic is more attractive than a forum with massive amounts of traffic. So if i had such popular blog with forum would advertisers be willing to advertise? and could my idea of placing targeted banner ads at specific sections work? Thanks Andrew
