Hello DP Members, I have a question about banner advertising. But first I will give you a small explenation about the situation. I own a small travel guide (approx 100 pages) that describes a popular tourist area somewhere in Europe. Most of the visitors come via Google. I installed phpadsnew and already for some months I serve some banners on all the pages on the site. Till now I am just testing phpadsnew and during this test I offered a big resort (from the area that is described) a "free banner ad trial" till februari. They of course accepted it. For the most important keyword I rank 2nd in Google and Yahoo. The first website doesnt offer banner advertising. For the 2nd most important keyword I rank 7th, but I am confident that I will reach the 2nd place as well. Only the site that ranks 1 in Google for this '2nd' keyword also offers banner advertising. Also, all the inner pages rank very well in Google for their keywords. On avarage (last week), the resorts banner is shown 450 times and clicked 3 times per day. This number is climbing steadily, since now the time started again for people to search for summer holidays. The resort (a big a luxurious all inclusive hotel) is also running a major adwords campaign and they are cooperating with many travel agencies and 'book-a-hotel-websites.' So I think they are spending a serious amount of money at promoting their business in different ways. Anyway, I think my site started to become on of the few important guides for this destination. Now about my question. I am planning to set the fee for banner advertising at 20 Euro per 1000 views. (20 Euro = a little bit more as 20 US Dollars). I have read a lot about banner advertising and marketing and I think it is a lot of money, but not too much for my small niche site that performs really well. But before I will make any descision, I would like to have suggestions, comments or ideas from you guys. Hopefully you can give me some things to consider or change. I mostly have doubts about the price that I am planning to ask. Is it waaaaayyy to much or not? But also with other types of suggestions and comments I will be very happy. Thank you very much for your help!
The staple of any good advertising is good research...They may pay that amount for a time, but eventually competition arises...If the folds of your company are not strong enough to warrant a higher price tag, you will loose... Research well, price competitively, and offer other incentives beyond the service rendered...That should be a good start...
