Banned? Why?

Discussion in 'Google' started by dragons5, Jan 26, 2009.

    I was doing some analytics checking and noticed a website that was getting great traffic suddenly had no incoming visitors from Google. I've used two banned checkers to confirm my suspicions that suddenly there are no listing for the site in Google.

    my question is why?

    Simply put, you are trying to make money with YouTube videos as your only content. I think they have some policy against that. Perhaps you have to make more of an effort to offer other content as well.

    Google bans most of these type of sites, it misses them from time to time for some reason but for the most part they are all banned.

    Try making some unique content sites and dont waste your time or money on these.

    The content isn't owned by google or youtube, its owned by its creators who add it, or others add it to the site. there are super large websites that do this that do not get banned from google, so I dont think im going to buy that as the reason

    i am pretty sure I didnt. In fact i haven't done any SEO with the site at all. I just built it and went on my way. I was getting about 5-10 video submissions per day from guys and over 1k users a month until Google banned it.

    From YouTube's Terms & Conditions:

    D. You agree not to use the Website, including the YouTube Embeddable Player for any commercial use, without the prior written authorization of YouTube. Prohibited commercial uses include any of the following actions taken without YouTube's express approval:

    * sale of access to the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable Player) on another website;
    * use of the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable Player), for the primary purpose of gaining advertising or subscription revenue;
    * the sale of advertising, on the YouTube website or any third-party website, targeted to the content of specific User Submissions or YouTube content;
    * and any use of the Website or its related services (such as the Embeddable player) that YouTube finds, in its sole discretion, to use YouTube's resources or User Submissions with the effect of competing with or displacing the market for YouTube, YouTube content, or its User Submissions. (For more information about prohibited commercial uses, see our FAQ.)

    http://www.youtube.com/t/terms

    I'm pretty sure that covers your scenario. That combined with the fact that Google tries to limit the number of sexually suggestive videos, it is enough to get you banned.

    Hello...

    You barely have 20 indexed in Yahoo and only 10 in MSN

    He isnt trying to profit from adsence on the site nor did he remove anything from the
    videos where they originated from (youtube) so i have to wonder why you got banned?

    You must be having an issue with site...

    thx

    malcolm: He has AdultFriendFinder ads all over pages with no content other than YouTube videos. How can you say that he isn't trying to profit from the use of these videos? Are you having problems reading the quote from the YouTube terms & conditions?

    No i ment, he isnt using adsence to profit from the youtube videos which is what i thought was the big NO NO...

    It is very basic design with only those videos and the adult ads so...i dont really know other then its not doing very well in any SE so i could
    only conclude that he is having issues with bots or indexing.

    Now what happens if somebody went to his site FIRST and Uploaded the Video then went to Youtube?

    Would he have the same rights as they do, or would he still be banned?

    I guess im not sure what to think ......

    thx

    It doesn't mention adsense in the terms & conditions quote. Obviously you were disregarding what other people said and just stating your own opinions. Also he specifically said he was having problems with Google traffic. Anyways, I know why he was banned. You people can keep offering unhelpful suggestions.

    It wouldnt have to have anything in the youtube TOS about adsence as its googles property anyway.

    I didnt state anything other then the site is doing horrible in ALL SEs
    and if you know why he is banned then i guess we all have to take what
    you say for face value or read the terms and wonder if it was #3 of TOS....

    thx

    That is a lie. The site allows videos and has videos from DailyMotion as well.

    Here is just a thought, If the only content comes from other sites is it possible that someone is upset and reported it as a copyright infraction?

    or maybe Google is just pi**ed that your site has to much duplicate content

    see here's the problem with that.

    sites like WarcraftMovies.com exist and do the same thing over and over and over and over again. Sites like GameTrailers upload their gamevideos to youtube using the same description as on their site. So I don't think it's duplicate content.

    Sites like WarcraftMovies.com offer much more than just videos. It doesn't matter if you also have videos from dailymotion. You are still trying to generate profit with these videos as your only content.
