What the program considers – the user id or the ip from where the user entered the adsense details .

If it considers only the user id then it might be possible for some1 to click on her/his ad w/o knowing so.

Well most corporations have one external IP address. That means that if you log in at work with your AdSense account, there is a chance that another coworker browses DP and clicks on your ad. This will register as a fraudulent click!

Its the same as anywhere else. Don't display your AdSense ads in an environment where others in the same office/school may click on them. If you and your coworkers all use DP AND rev share, you shouldn't be clicking on ads in each others threads.

Same as if you visit each others sites.

If you use adsense then you can't afford to take chances with it. Use php/asp to limit the delivery of your ads so they can NEVER be shown to anybody in your company/house/school etc. Use permanent cookies and IP address to make sure your ads are never displayed.

Also limit the number of times a person can click on an adsense advert by using an onclick event and not showing them an advert for a second time. Only show adverts a certain number of times for the same IP. etc

The concept of DP revenue sharing being linked to sudden bans has been getting more mentions lately so I thought I'd bump this thread and look at the results so far:

16 votes, assumed from 16 banned AdSense users
    - 10 used DP revenue sharing
    - 6 did not

As others have pointed out, this is an extreeemely unscientific poll.

But DP is so huge and uncontrollable, I can see how accidental or on purpose click fraud could happen by newbies who don't know better or kids messing around or whatever. I removed my AdSense ID, am doing without the occasional $.30, and have better peace of mind :)

    That's a good point.

Are you sure? If I have a dynamic IP and come to browse DP forum without logging in, will I see my own ads? You can say that even if I click on my add then Google won't count it as fraudulent click, but how would you know what tracing techniques do they use? They don't make this information available, so you can't assume it's just on IP, it might be cookie based when you login into adsense account etc, and unless DP uses exactly the same system as google there exists nonzero probability it will happen.

The best thing is simply not to click on ads here or check first whether it's your publisher's id there. :)

Just the fact that Google sees many (MANY) Adsense publishers clicking on other publishers ads at DP probably raises a red flag.. throw in one or two clickbombs, and you've got mass-bans..
It's not difficult to see why Google (and advertisers) might have a problem with this.

If people were getting banned for using this revenue sharing program, there wouldn't be anyone on the forum still using adsense, because they all would have been banned.

This is a major site, and the revenue sharing has been going on for years. Google would have stopped it cold long ago, or banned so many people that the program would have been withdrawn.

The issue being is that the system is not safe. Two options:

    1) The administrator of this site can add IP checking module to disable ad serving (which would make the system 100% secure).

    2) Never login your Google services from public services (Universities, work, etc..) which really gets annoying.

    Peace,
