Banned from stumbleupon

For reasons I do not understand after getting a virus removed from my computer and having to have a clean install when I tried to download stumbleupon tool bar I was told I am banned and cannot log in because of this.
I have not been able to figure our why I was banned. I have sued this account for a year or so with no problmes

I have another computer I could use in an effort to start from scratch but would rather use this one.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely you spammed stumbleupon. When examining a competitor's links today I came across another banned stumbleupon account. So maybe they are being more retroactive in removing spam.

thewahm is right - if you stumble your own site too much you can get banned from what I have heard.

Not really. Churn 'n burn- most you can lose is an SU account, which costs exactly nothing. I maintain about 30-35 accounts, and some spammers use a whole lot more than that.

Don't invest too much time into a single SU account. What do you hope to accomplish?

If you're dying for traffic from SU simply purchase their advertising program. It's cheap, if untargeted traffic is what you're after.

Why not send them an email explaining that they have committed a mistake.

If you are sentimental about the 'user name', contact them and get your account back. Otherwise it takes nothing to create another account.

I highly doubt that it has anything at all to do with a virus, as others have said if you spam stumbleupon you will get banned, it is that simple. Using a different computer would make no difference, your IP address would still be the same.

I believe that Stumbleupon bans people who constantly stumbles content from the same domain. For blogs, for example, stumbling your each and every post can get you into trouble. Unless you get a friend to stumble it for you, it may be considered spam. I got this from a squidoo user who owned a lot of lenses and she stumbled each one. So she's banned. She learned it the hard way.

By baning your account they accomplish nothing, just open another one. When they start banning domains it's time to think before spamming.

Whats so great about stumbling your own site anyway? does it mean it gets picked up more often by other visitors?

    My account was also banned.
I had been using it for more than 2 years before banning.
I had more than 1000 friends and most of them are ready to stumble.
    Life goes on.

Ouch, that hurts Radamel. I've been using mine for barely over a year and it's still young and fresh. LOL.. though I'm starting to grow a fondness for it. However, like they said, unless your sentimental about your connections and your username, creating a new account shouldn't pose a problem. Though the reason you have been banned must be because of spamming. I see no other reason. :(

TBH I'd rather not get banned just simply because of the hassle of having to sign up again. Sheesh.

I had been stumbling my post from my blog. I didn't get banned but SU blocked ME from blogging that site. Others can still stumble it. They did not ban me but my account is four years old, maybe five years and I was a sponsor in my first year and I have many other stumbles not related to my account.

However, I wrote them and told them I have a rule, I don't provide content to a site that will not allow me to link to my site. It is a ridiculous position for any webmaster to take. That content is valuable to them. The wrote back and told me site would eventually be removed from the block if I continue to stumble other sites to which I said refer to my rule, I don't provide content to a site that blocks my site.

Stumble is now selling advertisments, that is why they are doing this. They would be happy to send traffic to my site but as I understand it, would be in violation of AdSense policy as you're paying for a set number of visits.

Using SU for the purpose of submitting your sites is not worth your time. It isn't quality traffic and unless you have an established account it wont get you very much traffic anyway.
