Not to put on a tinfoil hat but do all your guys sites have adsense on them?

Do you see any sites ranking well in msn with adsense on them.?

Actually just found one, so theory busted

Is to click on their Google Ads, go to their feed back page and tell them how shitty they are. Be sure to select "Not recommend at all" :)

The site I had banned didn't have adsense.

My theory is that if MSN finds a site which was ranking primarily because of links from other sites owned by the sites owner they will ban the site and ban the sites that link to it.

I'm not for a minute saying this is how they should handle it because its not. This is just my theory from months of trying to figure out why my site was banned.

Stupid part was that there was no reason for it to be banned, just somebodys mistake.

I do too, but how many of your sites with adsense still rank in msn?

yeah but that would usually require a lot more then a few links wouldn't it

I mean if you have 100s of sites all link togather, that might make sense

but a few links, seems like a huge overkill

seems really extreme, there will be tons of other people showing up in this thread shortly if that is the case

Some of my sites are not doing well in msn either, if im being honest i think msn is very unstable.

As we all know its always been a game of cat and mouse to gain good rankings in all SE's but at least you know where you stand with the likes of big G. And maybe thats why we all use it as our preferred option!

Perhaps msn should try some prozac..?

They banned me, and told me that it was due to my exchanging links with other websites that were off topic. In my opinion they have no right to say who I can and who I cannot link out to, so screw it. Exchanging links with other sites because you like them or for traffic reasons predates search engines using links for ranking purposes... we webmasters thought of it first dammit. It's the whole reason that they first started using links as "votes"... now they tell who we can or cannot vote for? Or that the people can't vote back?

Of course, the exchange of customer support emails was between me and a few auto-responders first, back and forth, and I got a wee bit ticked off and started asking questions like "Did the same person who write you also write Eliza???", so, the tone was a little less polite than it could have been by the time a live person answered, or I might have been able to get them to listen to reason.

Did MSNDude say it was all sites with any affiliate content? Or all people who exchange links?

    Thanks.

This got me to log back into WMW again.

I sent off a PM. I hope it works. I miss the ~45k visitors that MSN should be sending me every month. :)

Which is my point exactly. What makes sense to one person might not to another. And some sites I linked to when they asked me just cause I liked their sites, or the people were very polite in asking, etc. Not all of the people I exchanged links with were providing me with much ranking benefit at all.

How in the world do those link farm sites get by if they are worried about minor things like this?

More than ten days later and still no response to my PM to the Microsoft dude.

It's beginning to sound a lot like Google...
