My friend's site got banned by google fewdays ago. He had over 4,000 urls indexed on google but now they all gone. He got frustrated because he has made $2500+ amonth from adsense.

Anyways... his site can't be found on google anymore, and traffic is dropped. But the PR, he has PR4, is still remain the same.

    WHats up?

PR has nothing to do with SERP's , It might be a glitch , every now and then some sites do drop out of the sky so to speak , Unless he knows he has done something wrong like buying links etc ? Providing he has stuck by the rules then he will probably bounce back. If he has done something wrong generally a site stays out of the index or sits on something like page 12 for 12 months or so

They have not updated the PR yet. Be assured, it will drop significantly once google updates the PR. PR is never instant or fast for that matter. It may take up to a month or more for the new PR to reflect.

    How did he get banned???

Is it just his site that is site banned from google search or is his adsense account banned can you clarify that one as its a bit vague. The only thing i can grasp is that his site currently has a PR 4 which means nothing really its the visitors to the site that matters.

I'm not sure how did he get banned. His site is amazon affiliate, and like 95% of content are copied from amazon.

The thing is, there are many amazon affiliate sites out there, and they are fine. Even blogger (google) now work together with Amazon. So, i doubt if Amazon was the reason he got banned.

Its only his site that got banned. Adsense is fine. He still get few cents from adsense, mainly from yahoo and bing traffics.

Well the same happened with one of my sites, its still PR3 but completely deindexed from google se. The annoying thing is that google gives no clear reason for the penalty, we have to keep guessing.

I think the density of keywords might be the factor, had made some fixed and asked for re-inclusion, lets hope for the best. :)

May be sites get banned from Google because of Affiliate Network Promotion and Copy Content and it's also against the Google Adsense TOS that you can't join Affiliate Network.

their are so many Affiliate Network sites are banned from adsense and also from Google Search. Google Strictly against the Affiliate Network Promotion.

But if one website got google ban, how PR remains same. I think on next update it will be N/A.

PR is the google trust of a webpage. So it can be there on a banned webpage.

Having a site deindexed by Google does not always mean it has been banned. Also Google only ban and completely deindex sites for serious breaches of the webmaster guidelines.. Having a high keyword density will not get your site deindexed.

Recently I was contacted by the owner of metalobsession.net to help find out why they had been completely deindexed by Google. Turned out that their .htaccess had been hacked and was 301 redirecting Googlebot to a site that redirected to another site full of spam.
When anyone else (including the owner) visited the site, they saw the site as it should be, only Googlebot was being redirected, so the owner had no idea he had been hacked.

Tell your friend to use a web sniffer, or use the "Fetch as Googlebot" feature in webmaster tools to see how Google sees his site. If he sees any links to spammy sites that he didn't put there himself, then he has been hacked.

    Cheers
    James
