Banned From AdWords

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by rose8, Dec 5, 2007.

So my accounts have not been displaying any impressions/clicks over the past few days, and I have contacted customer service numerous times.

Today I talked to multiple representatives and this is what I learned:

"I have reviewed your recent email and chat discussions, and I can confirm that a team of AdWords specialists reviewed your account and found that you violated our terms and conditions. I cannot elaborate beyond what has already been communicated to you."

Alright, cool. I've been suspended. Why?

"Your account has been evaluated by a team of specialist within Google, and their decision is final. I cannot elaborate further than what you have already received, however I can promise that all proper procedures where followed when reviewing your account."

I really don't care who evaluated it, I'd like to know why I have been suspended.

"Once again, I understand however there is nothing else I can do to provide more information on why you were suspended."

I thought the point of customer service was to resolve an issue or provide an answer of some sort?

So, I can no longer advertise with AdWords because I did...

wait, I don't know what I did wrong!

Anybody else have similar experiences, or know *if* I could contact anybody higher up?

Any help would be appreciated. (Thanks)

I believe that's usually what Google do when they suspend accounts. They are usually quite vague with their reasoning.

Don't try to contact again because you only waste your time. Just open a new adwords account and continue to advertise.

I can see this topic is becoming quite popular the onlu advise I can give
you is if u are really interested in adwords then open another one with
a different ip and credit card or u can try and call adwords but it is very
    unlikely that they would listen

I had JUST started. Made one sale on the first day I advertised, about 250% ROI...

I am planning on opening a new account, but I'm afraid it will be banned as well.

If I use a new CC, wouldn't that be banned as well, seeing as that it is my name?

Well, what were you promoting, and what was your ad text? Most likely you were doing something against their terms.

Now that I think about it, here is what *probably* got me banned:

I read that having multiple accounts will get you banned, but I had 2 vouchers that I wanted to use.

So I made one account with my CC and used a voucher, and then made a second account with a gift card I received from a friend, and used the next voucher.

I think Google believes I stole CCs or something in order to do that, because the name on the gift card differs from the name on my CC.

I cannot find anything about that in the terms though, and find it very disheartening that I am getting banned for life because of it. I'm going to contact support tomorrow via phone and see what happens.

Supposedly the decision is final though, so I guess I can only hope for the best.

If G believes that you used stolen CC for prepaid funds, why they do not call to billing phone # for verification??

I was banned for the same reason, but because I was advertising PSP downloads :D

You will not be able to open new account with the same card that's for 100 %, try with different card, maybe it will work.

If not, then you will have to register the account on your friend's or someone else name, basicaly, as I did :)

Wouldn't registering under someone's name work at first, but what about CC?

You just pay your friend as you incur charges?

while I don't agree with you getting banned, there is some gray area here that doesn't make you 100% innocent in Google's eyes

@dafool - I understand that, but I contacted customer support today via telephone, and talked to a kind lady. She said she was going to escalate my issue and see what happens.

The only thing that really irritates me, is the fact that NOBODY told me exactly why I was banned. That is the only reason that I could see, and I read the terms multiple times. I cannot directly find anything I violated, but I guess they have the final say.

Regardless, I just want to continue to advertise, and I can see them banning my previous accounts, but let me try again maybe?

I mean, damn, the gift card I used was for $5, it's not even anything significant.

    Thanks for the insight everyone.

Opening multiple accounts to use vouchers will get you banned. They will also ban any account they find in the future that they determine is related to the previously banned account.

    Can I have multiple accounts?

I read that, it said nothing about vouchers in there. I just think it's ridiculous that they will ban me for life because of that?

Multiple accounts = multiple accounts...the reason really doesn't matter. They have rules and you broke them, not sure why you are surprised that they booted you. If you look at it from their point of view you were basically stealing from them. Typically when people steal from a store or company and get caught they get banned for life.

Not saying it's right or wrong, just offering up a different view.

I didn't break the rules. I talked to customer service and they said you are allowed to have multiple accounts.

I had them linked up through a client manager, as it states.

"Only client managers (such as third parties or search engine marketers) who use a My Client Center can have multiple AdWords accounts. All associated accounts must be linked to the manager's My Client Center account."

Similarly, you are allowed multiple accounts as long as you do not run similar keywords/products, which I was not doing.
