    Hi

I just wanted to ask if Google will ban your website if you interlink between your own websites even if they are content related.

    Thanks

Interlinking is not bad. But if you are linking one of your porn site to your web design site then it is definitely going to hurt you :D

As long as the interlinking is limited in nature - I've heard the figure of 10 sites mentioned in a Matt Cutts interview - you'll probably be OK. I guess the advice is - if you think you are using a strategy that involves trying to game the search engines, you'll probably suffer in the longer term if you rely on only on that strategy.

Interlinking to your websites is not banned, untill they look natural
if google thinks they are link farms then you caould be pennalized
So you can do the interlinking natural

If you only link from a few prominent pages to your other sites and the sites are related you'll be o.k. Just don't interlink sites that aren't related or put a bunch of site wide footer links between your sites or you'll run a risk of being penalized.

Absolutely not, as long as you are moderating your
interlinking and these are within the same niche, or
almost than you should be OK.

you'd have to be going some to deserve a ban.

Like creating doorway pages, or something

Don't do it. The safest way is to decide which is your most important site, and link the lesser ones to it. One way only.

I wouldn't do it because it won't help your site
only if you have all sites in unique class-c ip addresses, will you get any benefit from it.

but google will not ban you from this ;)

I would NOT interlink if the sole reason is trying to get the link treated as a backlink by Google. Any particular link has so little value it is not worth the risk that it might affect your Google results. Sure, there is probably little risk, but since there is even less benefit, the risk/reward analysis says don't do it.

On the other hand, if you can reasonably expect that the link will drive business to your site, then you should link. The whole goal here is getting good traffic to your website. One of my legal content websites is one of the leading referral sources for my law practice website. No imagined Google penalty could possibly offset the benefit of driving interested potential clients to my business website.

Too much interlinking may cause problem. You should only interlink when it is for the benefit of your site's users. Google love natural links, such inter-linking will not help much.

Yeah, I'm just curious because I have 2 websites with very similar content that interlink and the links are both within the content so it appears natural. This is all I have actually done! I heard about some guy who interlinked between several website for many years and it helped him with rankings. He then of course got banned! But then again how could one prove that they got banned for interlinking?

There's nothing wrong with interlinking but for greater success you should ideally have every website on different IP addresses and the links should appear natural, ie rather than just having a load of site-wide links you should also have some links within the content as well.

interlinking between your own sites is not going to help in any way.

However, if you can do some blackhat here. Try to host all your sites in different Class C IPs and then use three way linking. that could be useful.

Interlinking is not bad, but you should not use the same webmasters account for managing all of your sites.

What about if i am linking from my information based website to my shopping cart/online shop that is on a different domain and in the menu that appears on every page of the information site is a link to that online shop?

    Is that a problem?

This is done purely for the visitor so that whenever they decide they want to have a look at the products, they just need to click on the link to go there.
