Banned / de-indexed site - increased PageRank

    Funny thing...

My ‘horse racing’ site got de-indexed last month – the site command returns pages with no cache, title, description, etc - I've had no referrals from Google in the last month since it happened. I've got a couple of theories as to why the site was being penalised and had accepted the fact that the site was actually banned from Google- don’t ask ‘cos I aint tellin’ ya – suffice to say that I’ll be more careful next time ;)

I was expecting to have the meagre PR to be gone on the next update but it actually went up a notch (from 3 – 4), as did the back link count

Wondering if anyone else has seen anything of the like?

Not sure if it's banned but it isn't included in any SERPs... it would seem not to be if the PageRank went up

    have a look @ site:www.horse-racing-results.co.uk

there are many penalties Google can apply, one is the zeroing of pagerank. It will do this if it feels that the site is a good enought resource to be there in the SERP's, but that it is abusing or selling PR. This sort of penalty is applied manually.

The second is where known spam terms are picked up, and the site is automatically banned, removed from the index. This can be manually or automatically applied.

Page rank can still appear for a banned page oddly enough, as that is an automatically applied measurement. If your in Horse racing, then I suggest you be carefull who you link TO ;)

If deindexing took place than it is for sure some unethical SEO practices has been sensed by Google bots and website got penalised.Without logic this can never happen.

Do not worry tkae those follow tricks and too much link farming method and be natural thign will improve in due coarse of time

that's not totally true. Google deindexed me for a few weeks, and there was NOTHING I had done. It's a small site and everything just went away. A few weeks after that, everything was back to normal. no idea why or what happened.

Not saying that was this case, but deindexing can just happen on occasion.

I really believe if you were penalized, you would have recieved an email asking to remove the adsense ads.

So, guessing they just lost your indexed pages.

    Just a guess....

I wonder if Google just cycled back to an old index? My new sights frequently play the "now you see me now you don't game." The first time I saw it happen could not believe it.

I don't think this would be the case at all. The search and advertising divisions are run as seperate businesses (as far as I'm aware).

The site's been up since October '04 so I don't think it's a case of an index roll back in this instance either...
