Hey there, i requested my paypal check for 489 USD, (500 - 11 USD FEE)

it got home about 1 and a half weeks later here in Chile, and i have gone to my bank and they keep saying its stolen! Its not valid, and i keep contacting Paypal so they can look up and see if its true, but they keep replying back that there is nothing wrong with the check. i dont know what to do, i have emailed paypal so they can restore my balance on my PP account but i have yet to recieve a reply.

    Anyone experienced anything like this?

    thanks!

BTW i am in Chile, South America.

The incident appears weird and I doubt any body would have ever experienced anything like this before.

I certainly hope Paypal issued you a check which was payable in your country. If it is, I fail to understand why your bank is not going ahead with it, sending the same for clearance!
You can perhaps submit a copy of the e-mail received from Paypal in this regard along with your own guarantee letter to your bank. Perhaps they might feel safe then, to go ahead and process your check!

Who do you bank with? Have they given you the reason they believe the check is fraudulent?

Be sure, your check payee name and address matches with the account holder name and address.

Also try different bank. Do not ask them much. First, open a bank account in the check payee's name and address. Then endorse the check and deposit in your bank's account payee check deposit section or foreign check deposit section.

Also you can try with some modern banks who deal foreign checks regularly and are familiar with foreign checks.

In chile there is a bank called Banco Estado, and yeah everything is okay, but as soon as i will deposit the check they say the check has been blocked because it is "Stolen", paypal keeps saying everything is OK. anyways i cancelled the check and now will be buying something on ebay or sell dollar per dollar to someone.
