Bank of Amerika Sucks

Discussion in 'General Business' started by IamNed, Mar 8, 2006.

I am a long time customer to bank of amerika, but in the last few months I have noticed that customer support is in the shitter. For exmaple, when you call the customer support number on your card and the website, there is no option to speak to an actual human. There used to be such an option but not anymore.

The only way to contact someone is to go into the branch.

In addition, there is too much screening and verification when banking online. It has become impossible to do anything.

But if my card is stollen and I try to call them and can't even speak to a human then I can't stop the unwanted purchases.

So in essence the bank benefits from fraud and stollen cards since they make more money off the transactions whihc you are unable to reach someone to block the card.

People keep talking about Wallmart and tobacco companies being eveil, but Bank of Amerika is up there.

I highly recommend you don't use them.

    So is Sovereign Bank!

I feel like something as bad as your case is going to happen in the future because so far they have been ridiculous as for customer service and efficiency.

They won't carry out my instructions via email.
OK, you may say that it wouldn't be safe, but hold on listen to this: I opened an account and asked them to add it to my online portfolio. They never did. After half a ton of emails they still won't because they can't verify me. The problem is that I am abroad now and they won't carry out the instructions that I gave them nor accept an email reminding that to them!

    Nice...:(

Credit cards are sold as empowerment.

However, they are enslavement. They want you in debt. :/

Don't use credit cards! If you can't afford it, don't charge it and pay three times the value with revolving credit! It's foolish!

Bank of America is kinda like Eckerd's Drug Stores, they "look" like they'd have good rates and support because their so big... but in reality their more expensive than a convenience store. I hate BOA... although I've never had an account there I hear horror stories every day about them.

It is truly maddening trying to reach banks, utility companies, and the like. There is no telephone, gas, or electric company office here. When power goes out and you are in dark you can not even report outage without your account number. There you are in dark trying to find a bill.

http://gethuman.com/ Is a link for codes etc to try to reach a human. When all else fails keep hitting zero repeatedly or the pound key.

BOA is hands down the worst I have ever seen. Im a WAMU customer myself right now and they aren't too far behind, but BOA is the worst.

Join a credit union for your day to day needs. They want your business, are friendly, offer most services these days, charge low fees, provide payday loans as a service to keep customers away from places like pawn shops, and are generally good community partners doing things because it's the right thing to do. They're run by normal folks like (some :) of us that are truly genuine.

I'm not associated with a credit union, just use one. Most these days have member policies associated with localities and not employer, so if you have one near you the chances are you can join.

I never wanted to be with BoA, but I used to bank with Security Pacific Bank, and when Bank of America bought them, I was stuck with their overcharging asses for a while. Wells Fargo is way better!

My favorite bank is a locally owned one. It is antiquated but I can pick up phone call, recognize the voice of human on other end of line, and have that person handle my transactions over the phone.

I just closed my BOA credit card this month. It felt great.

They do have a lot of hidden fees. But regardless I had transferred my debt over to another bank already and what charges I made were paid up, so I did not want another card out there.

If you do have your credit card stolen, call the credit score companies like Equifax directly. They will actually freeze transactions for you right away and will take care of stuff faster than the 24 hour credit card customer service people. You can then call your credit card company next.

Umm...as far as I know the same can be said about all banks. Personally any financial institution such as banks , HMO's, and Insurance companies are about as corrupt as you can get. Their business is basically to make money off money. I think this is one area that maybe being a Muslim would have it's advantages. I can't wait for the day all their computer systems are hacked and all debt is wiped out in a single day. :)
