do you have any proof that you deposited the check?

why can't the company send you another check?

Make one zerox copy of check deposit slip and show that copy to your andhra bank (don't give them original copy) and ask for its credit (OR current status).

By showing them the check deposit slip, I am sure your bank officials would be able to locate the whereabouts of your check.

Even if the check is lost, filing lawsuit would not help much as it would take years for any meaningful resolution to come in your favor.
Just take their help in contacting the check issuing person/firm to persuade for a new check! :)

well in that case , first be sure the company didn't closed its bank account , but no worries you can sue the company if check bounce.
Tell them , if they won't care about your case , you have to reach consumer forum with the reciept.

That is good amount of money you have on hold and it is good that you at least have the check deposit counter foil.

The bank would be liable to get you the check back or the funds, if the same is cleared! If bank officials are trying to ignore you, you would do well to act and talk tough. Sometimes, politeness is misunderstood for weakness! :(

Moreover, if the issuing company has shut shop, who would be responsible for clearing your check?

There is nothing you can do to the bank except filing a court case which would take years for judgment to come.
If you genuinely want your funds quickly, just have a close interaction with your bank officials to trace the whereabout of your check, and if it is lost, inform about the same to this legitimate company and request for re-issuance!
The faster you take this action, the better are your chances to get your funds or a freshly issued check....

How can a bank ignore a customer in this era of competition? US checks can take up to 45 days to clear, so make sure that's not the case here. There's a mandatory 21 day holding period in all Indian banks.

Most companies will issue you another check if you wait a while. Isn't there a time limit on how long a check is valid for? I know google will issue a new check if something happens to the first one.
