I was talking with a friend the other day and she was telling me about an overdraft charge that was put on her checking account by her bank. Her bank, US Bank, charged her a $30 fee because her account went over by $.62. Not only that but the next day she added a $200 deposit. So her account was negative .62 for like 12 hours or so and the bank charged her $30.. What a crock! She said that she tried to get them to remove it for her but because she had one other overdraft, 10 months ago, they wouldn't reverse the charge.. That is just sad IMO. That a bank charges that much for such a petty reason. You know where they are making their money from. IMO a fee like this on an obviously already un-stable account can send the account owner snowballing into debt faster than if she were to take out a loan from the local shark. Because the funds were taken for one bank fee it reduces you account balance which then causes another bank fee if something goes through.. One fee turns into another, then another then another. Finally someone is looking at hundreds in bank fees before they even have next weeks check automatically deposited. Then when it is, most of the check is gobbled by bank fees and the cycle starts again, only sooner.. I've seen this happen to a couple friends actually. Just one bad week and a couple bad checks can ruin your funds in a blink of the eye. So what do you think about bank fees, how much is your local bank charging?
those bank fee are used to make up those free gift they gave you i've got those fee from time to time. If you have a credit card, it is even worse i've got charge for a ADDITIONAL WITHDRAWAL FEE, and i don't know wtf is that also got charge for CHASE *ID PROTECTION(Services and Merchandise), which i have called to cancel that program (and i didn't join it in the first place, that call center mofo just keep mumbling and got me to say yes)
I don't write cheques, so they never bounce. My bank gives me a monthly fee buffer of $5 per month. Which is nice, because it negates any ATM fees etc that I incur during the month. The worst thing they do in my opinion, is charge $10 to deposit a cheque in USD - but still, that ain't bad compared to the competition. So if I'm careful, I can actually make money from earning interest - just like it used to be! I absolutely hated my bank when I lived in the city, but I moved to the country, switched to a 'community' bank, and it's like stepping back in time to the 40s - when customer service actually included serving the customer. The teller chicks say hello if I see them in the street (and even remember my name!), which is a nice touch. Haven't had banking like that for a long, long, time. If your bank stinks, move your money elsewhere
yes I hate them all....Im about to go old school and pay all my bills in CASH!! My bank charges $35 overdraft. and $5 everytime I withdraw from my savings
I pay for nearly everything in cash. It's untraceable (practically), clean, and doesn't have fees. Plus it's still legal (for now).
My US bank account charges me 32$ for overdraft My Russian Bank account charges me the ~of 1$ USD. lol..
