Hostgator has had a good name for a while so you are pretty safe with them. If you have massive traffic then you are better off with a dedicated server as everyone else has said.

Lol, dedicated server is no option. And btw, my site is a Bux PTC Site, most of them are using shared hosts I guess, so WHICH do they use??

btw; the site has 500.000 hits, not pageviews or unique visitors (just to clarify), and it has about 100.000 unique visitors daily,

You should check out cirtexhosting.com. I went with them for a long time, very good support and overall the best host I've found.

    hostgator works fine for me...

keep in mind, they are one of the largest (possibly THE largest) shared hosting company, so it goes without saying there are going to be some unhappy customers posting complaints on their blogs or sites.

    *sigh*

a lot of people praise hostgator...but they get a lot of flack from the HOSTING industry itself

they don't have problems because they are so big...they are NOT THE ONLY BIG SHARED HOST

    THEY USE DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING PRACTICES

read this if your not still convinced:

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=700734&highlight=hostgator+problems

that is the forum FOR THE HOSTING INDUSTRY

look up hostgator problems, hostgator issues, hostgator scams

look at the YEARS OF COMPLAINTS

look up hostgator overselling....JUST ON THAT FORUM

I have owned a HOSTing company (not reseller) since 1997

Hostgator is NOTORIOUS for bad service, and terminating anyone who thinks the word "unlimited' means "UNLIMITED"

check the web designer and programmer forums...see how many complain

people will see what they want to see, but in the end...the truth comes out....they suck.

go with whoever you want, just stay away from hostgator or godaddy hosting

(BTW I am a reseller for and register ALL My domains with godaddy..i have over 200 of them...so its not against godaddy, its just their hosting sucks)

Not sure if that is really good hosting comp. But one of my friend said that he is contented with their services. He is also using hostgator.

I know some people using it (HostGator) and they haven't had any problems. And the problems about HostGator that I find on the internet, are mostly about the support. But I think I'll either go for Cirtex or Hostbel then. Gotta find it out a bit more yet.

EDIT: I might go for a VPS, which should be able to handle it easylie right? Well, which VPS should I choose? (not to expensive, but still a good one, I need)

Someone told me byethost is a good choice (he's running the same kind of site as me, with about the same amount of hits per day!), then the plan $19.99/m and $29.99/m are both good. Anyone heard of this host before?

Not 64MB Ram... But 124MB/256MB Ram, that's quite enough I think.

Have a look at the plans I am offering. I can also create a custom account for you if these do not satisfy you. You will notice that the plans are transfer high and hard drive sparse, for 5.99$ you get 350G. http://vancouvercomputers.runhosting.com/

Well, I think I'll need a VPS Hosting. Though ByetHost only accepts PayPal and 2CheckOut, and my PayPal account is just limited! Quite a problem actually...

To be honest I think VPS is crap. If you are really serious you should set up your own servers or at least get a physical dedicated server.

What payment method were you expecting to use? I would be open to working something out.
    On second thought, forget it.

try GoDaddy for a month on a spoof site and mess around with it... after you tried it you won't want to leave! There's a lot of negative remarks going around about everyone... and sure when you search GoDaddy you might find more... hmm.. I wonder why?! GoDaddy is massive in the market.. Its not the preferred hosting for everyone.. mostly for those that aren't complete webmaster noobs.

Hostgator are well known in the industry, very highly staffed so you should give them a go.

Well, they want me to send them a copy of my passport.... Which is a bit of a hassle and because of the negative stories about them I don't really trust them either! I think I'll go for ByetHost since someone else, who's running quite the same type of website as me (and with the same amount of hits), is using it too and hasn't had got any problems with it.

And the domain of my website is: BuxHeaven.com
