Bandwith Overload - Need new host!

    Hi,

For my site (which got half million hits per day! (500.000)) the bandwith has almost been exceeded, which would mean I'd have to pay a facture of 70 euro (about $120 I guess) per month extra! In other words, I'll need a new host, one from America (most visitors come from America I think, so I think a host from America would be the cheapest bandwith in this case too) with a lot of bandwith, and as cheap as possible. (Bandwith should be atleast 50GB+)

    Thanks in advaced,

    Skyfe.

EDIT: I found a cheap one, called: HostGator
    Is it trustable, anyone knows?

For your traffic you should at least consider a VPS. You don't serve half a million hits a day on a shared hosting account.

    HostedFX

A great host, with great support. US based and very reasonable plans with 180GB of bandwidth just 12USD per month. That's their best package; there are two below it the cheapest of which is $5 per month.

@ 15 millions hits per month it definitely sounds like you such consider a VPS or Dedicated rather then Shared.

Marketing, where people get paid, and I get paid. Well, I think a hosting with at least 100GB should be fine for sure? Because on this host, 8 days was about 21 GB Bandwith used.. So the 300GB+ per month from HostGator should be fine right?

I don't think they would allow it.

    They would suspend your account.

    Find a VPS :D

I'd personally recommend a VPS but if you're looking for shared hosting then I would always recommend HostGator. Been with them for quite a few months and 110% satisfied with the service I receive.

    Good luck in your choice.:)

    I use hostgator and site5.
Site5 has in next few days unlimited action.

I have account there and spend about 200GB per day on just one site (downloads) and don't have any problems

PS: if someone need 20$ off coupon for Site5 here is "promocodenet"

You should go for a VPS or Dedicated server.
Because the amount of visits you are getting are not for the shared hosting enviroment.
If you go with shared hosting the host you go with will most probably suspend your account for resource usage in a few days.
So I suggest VPS or Dedicated.

    Thanks

Well, it used about 21 GB Bandwith in 8 days, so shouldn't the plans of HostGator which are atleast 300 GB per month, be fine?

    Get a VPS or Dedicated.

Sure you'll be able to find hundreds of cheap shared hosting providers like Host Gator (heck, I've been using host gator for 2 years now).

But when you get to a size like yours, you can't be cheap anymore. Every shared hosting company will promise you "300GB" of transfer, and they are banking on the fact that you won't ever need that. And to stop you from actually using that much, they will freeze your account for "using too many system resources". Read the contract details of any host you look at, almost all of them will say they will kill/hault any processes/programs that take up more than 1% of the server's resources - which is basically a loophole for them to suspend your account if you send too much their way.

    skyfe.

My host gives me a disk space of 600 GB and a monthly bandwidth of 6000 GB for $7.95 a month. And you wll get a free domain registeration for every new account you open.

I do all my business with them, dam good.

I cant see how you can be serving more than 500,000 visits a day and not be using more than 50GB a month!

Hits != Pageviews, which I believe the OP meant ie every image load and pageload = one hit, so one page with 10,000 images = 10,000 hits!
