I hadn't planned on selling this yet as it's a nice little 'success' story. Plus I'm a fan of buying and selling sites with more than a month's history ... however, needs must and I've decided to sell if a motivated buyer is interested. If someone actually liked the band (don't care much for them myself!), this would be a great starting point to develop a real fan site from. As far as I can tell, there is no other fan site for this band ...

    Search engine rankings
After being indexed just over a month ago, the site has consistently been ranked #6/7 on Google for the keyphrase. It also ranks #9 on Yahoo for 'keyphrase lyrics'.

Also, look at the upward trend of search volume!: http://www.google.com/trends?q=secondhand+serenade

    Traffic
Fairly consistent traffic, actually picked up yesterday somewhat so could well be a sign of an increase (but no guarantees).

Referrals mainly from Google and Yahoo - MSN doesn't like the site yet it seems.

    Revenue
Ah, the important bit. The site has a decent CTR and CPC - seems that the ads displayed pick up the "secondhand" part of the band name, and sometimes show ads for cars (seems to be more band focused right now). Considering this I have been surprised to see a good number of clicks.

Site was online for a week or two before this period, but I mixed up my ad channels with another site and so the adsense data isn't reliable before this date. Traffic was similar though.

No way of telling if there have been any Amazon sales but I doubt it - likewise, a few CJ clicks but no revenue from that.

    Design
The eagle eyed among you will spot that it's based on a free template but fairly heavily modified. The header is unique, as is the way the sidebar is used for ads.

I should also note that I have used the same or similar designs on a few other band sites (as you will see from the links section). I don't plan on using it for any more though, so it will be limited to 4 (1 other of this colour).

    Content
The biography on the main page is unique and written by me. The lyrics are sourced from other websites - I have checked to see whethe the band has copyrighted their lyrics and it seems not, so although it is slightly dodgy ground to use them I think it's fair usage. Pics are PR pics in the public domain, again widely used.

    Auction: Yes
    Reserve: No
    Ends: Sunday 4pm UK time
    Start: $350
    Increments: $10
    BIN: $600

I haven't posted the URL and I'd appreciate if others wouldn't either - but I've nothing to hide so if you have questions, ask away.

Posted only here at DP for now - might list elsewhere in coming days depending on interest here.

If you don't think the site's worth the asking price, thanks for reading. I don't need to be told "that's too much" or "it's not 8x as for new sites" yada yada. Thanks.

Man, I really should stop putting so much information in the opening post and make people ask questions!

I guess the asking price is too high ... which isn't too much of a surprise. Guess I'll repost in a few months =0)

I've made that mistake too chimaera. The smaller the opening pitch, the better it seems. I know I actually scrolled past all that info because it was just too much to digest. I've had it happen in auctions of mine as well.

I actually read all of the information and was interested, but felt the opening bid was too high for me. I personally appreciate when a seller lays out all the info so nicely for the buyers.

Differing views but thanks for the comments.

I know this site would sell at the $200-300 mark (at least I think it would!), but it's one of those that I'd rather hang on to unless someone wanted to 'make it worth my while'.

By the way, love the Thom Yorke site in your sig, darwinstudios.

I put this up for auction again on Sitepoint. Lower starting bid and BIN too! (despite increased traffic).
