Does anyone here use any of the Wacom Bamboo range of Graphics tablets?

What are your impression of them? Pro's, Con's?
Do you use it for a profession? or for pleasure?

    Any examples of your artwork?

Obviously we'd all love a Cintiq 21ux but they are mega expensive, so I'm going for a Bamboo instead, unless I can be persuaded not to and something better is suggested in the same sort of price range.

Hi there, I'm a proud owner of both the Bamboo and the Graphire3.

First note: size matters. And bigger isn't always better. I have the 4x5 graphire, and I have a bigger one. Because the Bamboo is larger, I use it more for big things like painting or drawing, yet with the little one I can quickly use my desktop, and I use the little one for writing. Consider what you will be using it for before you choose a size - a little one can be too limiting for you, but a big one can be too big. try them out in a store or at a friends house if you can.

Second: there's no wrong choice. Tablets are wonderful. I love input devices - I'm the kind guy that rolls his own bindings for USB game controllers. 4 mice, 1 keyboard, 2 tablets, 2 usb game pads, apple remote (with custom scripts), Nintendo Wiimote and sensor bar (can be used asa mouse with my scripts) and plenty more goodies and accessories. I use them all. I use them frequently and they each have their advantages. I guess what makes me sad is that you'll be limited by only having one size....

Tablets are really useful, I use them for digital painting, digital calligraphy, vector illustration, my desktop, facebook graffiti oh yeah and I have used them before for desktop games because of how intuitive they are. Once you have one there's really no limit to what you can use it for, and when you need one - nothing else in the world will do.

hey innovati, thanks for the input! i've been thinking about replacing my beat-up graphire 2 (the pen's held together with packing tape) with a bamboo, glad to know it gets your vote.

pirogoeth, you can check out my sig link-- everything there was made with my graphire 2 (the bamboo's predecessor)
