Growing as in Baidu is growing? Still? Every Chinese friend I have use Baidu as their #1 search engine. Especially because it makes it so easy to find songs you're looking for as they have a tab just for finding download links for songs.

Google once had a stake in Baidu (Nasdaq:BIDU) when they went public in 2005 but I believe they already sold their shares. I know many people use their search engine for finding MP3s.

Baidu is chineese Google wanabee. If you want their website referring form, here it is :

    http://www.baidu.com/search/url_submit.html

I have done it for most of my sites, but never saw any "baidubot" or whatever it may be called crawling my pages. By the way, all my baidu submitted sites are written in latin alphabet, not chinese, this may certainly be a good reason...

For non chinese readers, like me, a detailed you can find a "baidu submit" visual howto there:confused:

The only problem is the people searching the net using BIDU do so in Mandarin (or whatever the main Chinese language is) so even you get any traffic it might not make any sense to the users.

Yes, baidu is larger than Google in China. And it has began its business in JP. But it's not as big as Google in the world, and it doesn't make as much fortune as Google. Hehe. Chinese people, more than 1000million using website, so it looks baidu is used more times than google. Wow, now you know why they are going to China.

I wonder if they're ever going to make a play for the English-language search market. Would be nice to see another strong competitor to G$$gle emerge.
