Alrite I got a gadget blog . . blah blah blah . .. I'm doing an upgrade of the gadget site another site (TY mcfox). And I'm eager to hear people's design feedback. I'd say the re-design id 50-60% complete so I wanna know if it's going in the right direction. Tell me what you like, what you don't like etc. Link: http://www.msmug.com/wordpress Spare Me No Mercy!!!! Skinny
hmm...there isn't much design to be honest. the text is too close together, the comment link is too big hey you said harsh!
Hah, No problem. Well I wanted to keep things simple (Web 2.0 style) I feel that gadget blogs usually throw tons of links and crap at a readers face. So I wanted to avoid that. Glad you pointed out the text factor. I just need to make a slight modification in CSS for H2. You don't like the comment link, eh? Point taken, will eventually change that one. Keep the harsh reviews coming. Skinny1
If you want to keep things web 2.0 style... Do not use categories, replace it with tags and the category list with a tag cloud, that would look more web 2.0. Also, make sure the tags appear in the meta keywords in the single entrie page... Just my 2 cents BTW... To do this, use the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin for wordpress
Haha.. . . Okay well Dekker, I don't know if you read gadget blogs or not, but would you agree that most of them are in your face with all this stuff. Like look at engadget. It is loaded with crap like ads and pushing Weblogs, Inc. stuff all over the place. My design is a little more simple. Looking into a tag cloud publicidadpixelada (wow what a long name ). And I realized I need a little more padding. Come on I want harsh. Give me more. Skinny
Skinny, Following are few of my observations. (1) The Blue thick verticals (Left & Right) beside search box not looking good. Give a try removing them and placing the search box above the horizontal line leaving one pixel gap, and right aligned. (2) The small round rectangular pieces at corners of "Does Gazotto Rock?" box also not looking good. Rest everything is looking professional.
I would personally worry more about the content that has not been updated for a while. You should put some current materials up. Good Luck.
I think that is one of the most awesome blog designs I've ever seen, I would just make the text a little bigger and turn the "view results" link white. Seriously, if I had money and a blog I'd probably hire you to design it.
Here are a few things which I think will look good: * There's empty space on both sides of the blog. Fill it with a gradient image with background property of CSS. Something light (Yello, lime, sky blue, etc.) will match your web2.0 design. Make the image keeping in mind that it will get repeated, so should look like a design. Example the header of this website. A small 200 px image repeats horizontally. Saves bandwidth, plus auto fills the entire space.(800/1024 screen sizes.) * Remove the thick borders beside the search box. Add some style to the button. The color of your rating box will look good for background color for the "search" button. If you do this, don't forget to add a contrasting border. * If you like, you can round off the header or the entire page . Nice design though. I assume you are just developing it and will add more posts once the design is complete. I liked the monitor image you have there. Bye
Yea just to let everyone know this is a test site. . . so the content isn't updated. (I update my content daily at Gazotto.com) @ ramakrishna p can you give me a screenshot of what you are seeing. Do you not like rounded edges or is there a problem with how they are appearing? I'd like to see what you are seeing. Jeet thanks for the background idea. I will use it. Everyone else thanks for your remarks as well. Anything else? Skinny
When you go to view the comments they appear squished to the side and out of place, this needs to be fixed. http://www.msmug.com/wordpress/http...s-new-gamer-19-inch-lcd-monitor.html#comments
I really think it looks great the way it is. But, it appears to me that the image isn't loading behind the search engine.
