Bad Week: 40% Google traffic decrease across all my sites (over 30)

What's going on with Google? Did they being to implement Caffeine this week? I have around 35 sites (2 of them major) and virtually every one of them has seen a drastic cut in traffic beginning on Tues/Wed. Traffic seems to be down 40 to 50%. Although that wouldn't be strange for a single site, I am talking dozens of sites across different niches. What's going on?

 

May be some little loss of rankings? Are they rank as usual?

I think I got the answer, it is because of Google live search, so the first results goes from twitter facebook etc. and they will now grab the huge amount of traffic from static results.

 

I have the same problem as well.google is really making life hard for us webmasters..why????

I think its due to festive x'mas season. Many people are on holidays. Well, it can be caffeine also, but matt cutts told webmasters that they will roll out caffeine in the new year.

google live search is really annoying

Yeah down a fair bit but I think I get enough traffic as it is, so I'm not complaining.

 

Yups, i am sure that it is the effect of caffeine that your site has seen a drastic decrease in traffic from google.

Kash correctly explained the reason for less visitors as many people are on holiday and Xmas parties plus shopping thus people have less time now. It'll be back in January as long as your ranking doesn't go down.

 

Take a look at your indexed pages, for some reason Google is de-indexing a lot of pages. If you do a site:example.com look at that number and then do a site:example.com/* compare the numbers, /* is the pages that are in the regular index vs no /*

I think the holidays are a factor as well, Caffeine is only on one data center currently so that is not the issue.

 

Only seeing the change in a spot or 2.

 

Yups, i guess it is bad now but as the time passes it will improve. Google has never delivered bad products.

 

But my page are being indexed faster than before, I don't know whats the reason behind that, but its good.
