"Bad neighbourhood" sites

    Hello,
Is there someone who can offer some advice as to how to figure out if the sites I'm linking to are considered "bad neighbourhood" sites.

Apart from checking if they are appearing in the SERPS are there any other ways?

    Thanks a bunch

Well aside from the obvious MFA, duplicate, spammy content I would give this thread a good read.

Any site that promotes any type of illegal activity would be considered a bad
    neighborhood.

Why are you linking to any sites?

Don't you mean getting links from?

I'll tell you one thing to watch out for are those WPMU sites. They have really become bad neighborhoods. (Wordpress Multi-user sites where anyone can make a blog. As a matter of fact they are excellent for Google-bowling your competition. You need software of course. But this is all very black hat so if you don't know what I'm talking about, good - keep it that way.)

It might be worth looking at the Adsense guide for an idea of what a bad neighbourhood is. I know they may not necessarily be exactly the same, but I avoid linking to any site like these as a rule of thumb as it's probably best to play it safe.
