    1. She definitely is not, and indeed can not, since she doesn't edit there.
    2. Maybe no one is "blocking you". Maybe it's just that no one sees your site as sufficiently unique to be added.

Whoa... and the cloud of paranoia spreads.

Do I look like "she"?

All this nonsense just for a DMOZ listing and an expired editor ? If I was still a DMOZ Editor I'll let the sites sit in the pit waiting for eternity.
Besides that is a she and it's not MANLY to harrast a SHE.
This is the reason why Women LOVES me.

    (a) obviously uroboros is not an editor any more so it cannot be her
    (b) you've been told that the site is not eligible because it is a related URL to one already listed (it does not have to be identical) BUT
    (c) you've been told that the site has never been reviewed or rejected, i.e. if it is submitted anywhere no-one has looked at it and therefore no-one is blocking it.
    (d) if you check this forum and every other with DMOZ content you will know that sites can wait for a day or many years for an editor who is interested enough to review it. Lack of listing does not imply blocking - there are well over a million sites submitted and waiting for review and last month a net of just 22,000 were added. Do the calculations yourself to see how long you could have to wait.
    (e) you've been told there is not currently an editor for stained glass and you can therefore prepare yourself for a maximum wait, notwithstanding a probable decision to reject based on (b) above.
    (f) judging from your posts I know which of the two of you seems to be a certified nutcase.

On the other hand, uroboros has said she has been victimised by a competitor, without naming names or making a hullabaloo about it. If I were to take sides I know whose I would take.

Now that you know that uroboros is not an editor and is not blocking your site how about calling a truce, apologising for maligning her unfairly, and exonerate her of blame in stainglassville? Wouldn't that make both your lives so much easier.

Excellent post, brizzie... maybe a wee bit long-winded :D but it certainly covers all the important territory.

Actually, for brizzie, this post was like text-messaging. :D

I am new here, but not to Stained Glass. I ran across one of these supposed "Brothers" recently at "Wikipedia" while doing some research on repairing an old window. Some of the links to these repair sites had been changed to lead to a commercial site, that is paid by "clicks" it receives, and his own personal stained glass forum.(Stainedglassville) which has no value to anyone doing research. May be this same guy, or his innocent brother. The people on "Wikipedia" where not amused. A really good site on restoration, sponsered by the Department of Interior, was even changed to take you to a commercial site. Under normal conditions I would have just let this pass, but sounds fishy to me, and one should know all the facts. Sorry for posting this kind of thing as a first post, but felt it needed to be done.

You can check this for yourself athttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:desg

I'd like to point out that when uroboros was an editor she reviewed all waiting submissions, grew her categories, and searched for an amazing amount of good sites belonging to her "competitors" and she listed them. A lot of them, she was tireless. There was never a wait for review in the glass categories.

I also saw her create a lot of categories related to the glass arts throughout the directory. Her work has greatly enriched the very categories that you want a listing in. I don't know why she left but I can tell you without a doubt that since her departure those categories lack the special TLC that uroboros gave them.

It was indeed, the site removed from Wiki was a Somers family one. An accusation by a confirmed Wiki vandal doesn't hold much water I would suggest. I hope someone is noting that talk page in respect of the apparent DMOZ editor application in the pipeline, DMOZ metas are 100 times less tolerant of that sort of abuse than Wiki Admins.

WOW! Are there any Al Capone style shootings between stained glass makers? :D

I never thought about it as big money business, maybe I should start another website. :p

Make that 1000 time less - only thing I ever got from Wiki Admin was restoration of one my deeplink on page which was protected! ;)

And that happened almost immediately after contact!

First let me start off by saying that I am new here but a veteran of the Stained Glass community so I can only report of facts I have seen there. Second, I am currently on the outs with Guy Somers, the person who started this thread for personal reasons I will not go into here. I just want to make sure you understand that while I was a close friend of his once I am not here to blindly defend him. Third, He does tend to be on the paranoid side most of the time. I found this site after seeing Guy post about it on a glass forum and was looking for a forum about forums & websites so decided to see what was going on.

Now for the reason I am posting a reply to this thread:

If Chantal is here as Guy thinks, he and you all have cause to worry. While she might have behaved well here, I can not say the same with the glass community. I do not enjoy talking badly about someone but I feel some facts are in order here that you might not be aware of. And they are facts that have proof of ip addresses from both email and forum postings as well as finally confessions by the party involved. You might find this very interesting reading:

    http://laceystudio.net/index.php?showtopic=21&st=0

That forum was setup by people who considered her a friend until they discovered what she had done. Some of the people there were drawn into Chantal’s games for sometime (she plays the victim card very well) and then discovered how they had been used. This was something that had been going on for a long time by one very skilled person. When the facts came out she banned those who knew from her site and started a deletion campaign to cover her tracts. She posted under many alias to get people to click on her google ads. It was discovered that she created one blog under an alias for the sole purpose of attacking one of the Somers brothers who had a long standing popular site that listed higher than her's in the search engines. This was a battle where both sides did wrong. Having known one of the parties for some time personally I can tell you that he snapped under her constant attacks and fought back in ways he has since regretted. She posted very personal information about him, his children and other family members on this blog. She relentlessly attacked his and other's glass forums with SPAM and accusations. While he has tried to stay clear of her, she continues on working against him. She is known for creating nasty posts under aliases and them claiming she has proof it was someone else who did it even when confront with proof that it was her. She would even blame one of her other aliases for it. She blanket lists her many sites even in none related directories all in the name of increasing her listing rates. While that may not be a crime it does not make for a good directory editor IMO. If she did indeed create the glass group on DMOZ you can be sure it was for one reason only, to benefit her sites. And yes, I too suffered her attacks even though I was just a very small fish in the glass web community.

The list can go on and on and all with proven facts behind them but I would like to forget the whole mess and not think of this person any longer. The reason I posted this info is while Guy is probably just being paranoid here, he is right about Chantal’s behavior toward the glass community. Why does she do these things? Attention, money, amussement... only she knows. Guy is far from being a saint IMO but Chantal is far more dangerous as proven by her actions with the glass community.

Guy, I seriously think she has nothing to do with your listing on DMOZ. Have you tried to contact them and see what is really going on? You can’t jump to Chantal being behind everything without first checking all the other options. As pointed out, Somers is listed as is my studio site. I doubt either one would be if she was the editor. It is curious that her site has such a high rating when others listed I know from personal experience are more useful and popular but that is not proof of her involvement. Guy you need to remember to get all the information first before you start accusing people.

I do not know who Uroboros is and I am not accusing her of being Chantal. Having been in a similar position myself in the past, I hate when people name someone without having any proof. It’s hard to clear yourself of something you have no involvement in and I for one believe everyone is indeed innocent until proven by facts to be guilty.

This just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. One would think we were discussing plans for world domination rather than stained glass products... who knew there was this much hostility and violence in the tame little world of stained glass?

Leaving aside all the questions about who said what about whom and who did what to whom, the thesis of this thread is clearly untenable, and it just seems to get worse and worse for the "brothers" as it goes on.

It's pretty black and white, really: The person who is the target of the current accusations about why his sites are being "blocked" (allegedly) in DMOZ is not an editor and has not been for some time. Therefore, quite clearly, the failure to have his site listed in DMOZ cannot possibly be dumped on her doorstep.

Anything else in this thread is hysteria and gossip. And most of it makes the original poster look more and more pathetically paranoid and vindictive with every new "disclosure".

I would never have guessed there even was such a thing as "the glass community"...

Wow, that's a lot of blah, blah, blah for a noobie to spew forth without providing even a shred of evidence.

The topic of this thread is "Bad DMOZ Editors?" and it has been checked and confirmed that uroboros/helleborine/chantal is not an editor and has not been for quite a long time.

What does this link ( http://laceystudio.net/index.php?showtopic=21&st=0 ) show us other than a bunch of people we've never heard of were trashing her behind her back? If you expect to be taken seriously try providing the link to the blog you speak of, links to the forums where chantal participated, things she actually did. No one here cares about these problems you claim are going on in the stained glass world, especially since you provide NO evidence.

Talk is cheap and you glass people are way off topic. Stop grinding rusty old axes and go back to grinding glass.

Oddly enough, it looks like the same "Pamela" who posted this:

By the way, Pamela is a moderator there at Guy's forum:

Fascinating. Next step: The CIA and covert ops?

It seems DMOZ paranoid secrecy is really contagious and is breading space for conspiracy theories, should we contact CDC? :D

I'm hearing helicopter overhead; some guys are drooping down the ropes...

Move along people, situation is under control, nothing to read here.

Since uroboros (sorry, I'll stick to that name) has been known to many on this site for a while, and to some of us for a fair bit longer, this is probably the wrong place to come for a character assasination attempt. This is not a stained glass forum, no-one here cares about the politics of the stained glass community/mafia, and this kind of sustained and paranoid attack on a member of this forum is not appreciated. What I see is a concerted campaign against her on forums, the credibility of which are somewhat stretched by personal connections, and led by an individual who managed to get himself the undignified status of Wiki Vandal. And is trying to add Skaffe and DMOZ itself to the list.

I think you have your answers - uroboros is not an editor and is not blocking anyone's sites. That was the purpose of the thread wasn't it? So now you know, you can stop following her around making false accusations, and piss off back to stainedglassville and wallow in your paranoia. Unless there are any other DMOZ related questions or points, which would clearly have no association with uroboros, I can't see that the DMOZ section of DP has anything more to offer you.

What makes this even more nonsensical is that both the Somers Tiffany site and pamelaG's Goess-studio.com site *are* listed in DMOZ.

They are freaks and obsessed with stained glass and a DMOZ listing. I don't like my glasses stained especially the one I use for drinking. :D

I find my glasses get stained quite easily when it rains. Makes it difficult to see very much. Someone should invent wipers for glasses.

I have a stained glass window I designed myself. Perhaps I should get involved. :D

You could try resource-zone.com, that forum is staffed by DMOZ meta editors, and they'd love to meet you.
