Bad DMOZ Editors?

I own a stained glass supply site and can not get my site listed. The problem is that there is a lunatic editor who keeps refusing my admittance.

She is a competitor of a family member of mine and is delusional that he is trying to shut her site down. They have been fighting for the top spot for Free Stained Glass Patterns for years and I have been caught in the crossfire.

Is there away to report this abuse? Why should an Editor be allowed to abuse their power...? - MAX

    www.MadMaxStainedGlass.com

PS: She is also a member of this forum... watch out she likes to create aliases to crank up the interest of her own forum. How do I know this? The dummy accidentally gave me admin priverlages and I caught her using 6 aliases all having conversation with herself, mostly to belittle and destroy good peoples reputation through her site and anonymous blogs.

What's really scary is she gave out personal info about my brother, including the Elementary School his kids went to. Yep... a sicko is what we got here.

Well, without identifying information and more details, how do we know you are not the person being complained about, posting to try to give madmax a bad rep?

Have you submitted your site? I agree that it's not listed, but I don't see any evidence of it ever being submitted, reviewed, or deleted.

Also, are you sure your competitor is even an editor?

    Details would help. ;)

True I could be this person, trying to give Mad Max a bad rep... but I assure you I'm not. I've been involved with stained glass forums for several years and have always used my real name, including my company's website. Most are looking for privacy and use an alias, but not me. On the glass forums I am Guy Somers from Somers Tiffany.

I created Mad Max to sell supplies to those who do stained glass as a hobby. This person has tried to disparage my family just because she wants to make some money with her Google ads. For all I know she might be you. :D She fooled many in my industry for years.

With this all being said, how can I bypass this person who I believe is blocking my attempts to register? - MAX (Guy Somers)

I've submitted it twice. No, she's not a competitor... just delusional... and greedy. Am I sure? Pretty darn sure! - MAX

Calm down max, no one's attacking you here. Just asking for details so we can try to help you. Can you provide the category? The editor's name? Otherwise we're going about this blindly.

You can PM me if you want to keep it private.

First of all, I checked all of the categories related to this site and do not find it waiting there, nor has it ever been rejected or moved. No editor in DMOZ is keeping your site from being listed.

Second of all, I find a site that you own - http://www.somerstiffany.com/ is listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Crafts/Glass/Stained_Glass/Lighting. This is a related site and is owned by the same company out of the same address - 4108 Sunrise Highway, Oakdale, NY - this means that http://www.madmaxstainedglass.com/ is not eligible for a listing.

I appreciate you going through the trouble of doing some research, but Mad Max is not a mirror site. Somers Tiffany is a stained glass mfg co that sells the finished work... Tiffany style lamps & stained glass windows. Mad Max sell the supplies to the hobbyist that makes stained glass. True they have the same address but they are two different businesses. I registered Somers Tiffany on DMOZ several years ago before this nonsense went on between my brother and this other individual.

If no editor is blocking my registration than what is? Like I said... Mad Max is not a mirror of Somers Tiffany, so there must be another reason that I'm not aware of... having the same physical address is just not enough. They are hosted by two different hosting companies... one has a shopping cart the other doesn't. Plus their customer base is completely different. A stained glass hobbyist would have zero interest in Somers Tiffany and vis-versa.

I know of at least on person who has more than one website submitted by the same person. - MAX

PS: Really thanks for all of your input.

Max, could you please provide the details I requested here? Which editor are you talking about? Are you also an editor? To be honest with you, I don't even see an editor listed for stained glass.

I am new to DMOZ, just sent in my info to become an editor. Not sure how to find the editor info but I was told this person goes by the name of Uroboros. Again... this is all Greek to me... just trying to get my business listed. Don't worry, I not all excited over this and don't believe anyone here is attacking me.

But then again after being duped by this individual for nearly a year with her multiple personalities... you never know. :)

I can guarantee uroboros isn't blocking your submissions, she hasn't been an editor for a year or two. She hasn't requested reinstatement as far as I know. What editor name did you apply with? I'll keep an eye out for you.

And what about the actions you have been taking against this alleged harrassment, maxstainedglass? Would you care to comment on that part at all?

Funny you should ask... I haven't taken any action other than to expose the fraud. Wasn't too tough to do considering she gave me (accidentally) admin privileges. But I am very leery on trusting anyone on the internet that hides behind an alias. Most are just trolls, looking for attention. Cybil, as most of us became to know her as, is not invited on most of the stained glass forums. Who needs someone who plays with other's emotions or trys to ruin reputataions just for cash and jollies too... right Doc? - MAX (Guy Somers)

And MY point is that you are at best providing your take on your side only of what is almost certainly a lot more complicated than what you are saying here. I don't expect you to be unbiased since it's clear you have a personal agenda here. But I do think it worth pointing out that you DO have a personal agenda and that whay you say is NOT unbiased and may not even be accurate.

You are presenting yourself as an innocent victim. I will suggest that you perhaps have been as much or more the instigator.

I am always leery of anyone who starts off a thread like you did here. I'm no fan of DMOZ - that's not a secret - but I'm also very leery of posts like yours because more often than not they turn out to be a slanted version of the truth if not an outright lie.

I think I know who he is talking about minstrel and that person has a very nice reputation here in DP.

I'm sorry minstrel, where did I say I wasn't a fan of DMOZ? I thought I said I was NEW?

Now as far as the inocent victim... you are absolutly correct. I am only wondering why I can't register. It just so happens I followed Ms. Cybil here, she may be a lovely person(s) on DP, as she was on the stained glass boards, it was when the games started she showed us the demented side.

Honestly I could care less what she does, and I wish her only success... just leave me alone and let me register a site. Not too much to ask for. Do you get what I'm trying to say? Before you jump to any conclusions read some of these posts. http://laceystudio.net/index.php?showtopic=21 - Guy

Yes. I know who he is talking about too. I've done a bit of investigating myself - I don't believe his version of this at all and I don't trust his motives in this thread or at this forum for a second.

Would you care to tell us why? And where else you've followed her too? And what else you have done to her?

You are hardly squeaky clean, "max".

Uhh... weren't you informed just a few posts ago that the person you are attacking has not been an editor for more than a year? How could she be blocking getting your site listed in DMOZ? And what about your links to the other site Annie mentioned above? Want to disclose that?

Your story stinks like a bad compost barrel. No offense intended to compostannie :D

Not attacking anyone... just stating some facts. My question remains... if Uroboros is not blocking me than who or what is? Sorry if my "story" doesn't sit well for you, but you seem a little preoccupied and know just a little too much. Are you she? At this point in time, you never know.

And what about your links to the other site Annie mentioned above? Want to disclose that?
