Hey All, Does anyone use Badbaviour on their blogs to protect against spam bots? It's very good but now it seems to want to block me from getting into my site, so I need to turn it off to login. Anyone have any ideas how to stop this?
If you can't go to yourblog.com/wp-admin, and get it that way, I would just open my FTP platform and delete the plug in. Askmet works great and has no issues like that.
Ah yes I have askimet too, but my blog has become really popular with spam bots some days, there was 100's of them at a time going straight to the comment pages on my posts and ramming it so much that it would help crash my server due to a large video that plays on the site. Askimet is not able to stop the bots from coming to the site, this is what badbehaviour does, it recognises known IP's etc and blocks them, with questions so if it's a real person they can still get through.
Wow ! That's a lot of spam ! Did you get in yet ? I can't imagine that it would lock you out of logging into the admin page.
Sadly BadBehaviour does not give users the option to whitelist ISP's on their sites, so I can't whitelist myself hmmm. So it's back to the drawing board I think. Yes a lot of spambots, I hate those things. Askimet is very good by the way, sadly it will not stop them coming, it just moves the comments straight into the spam box. Does anyone know of any other Badbehaviour type systems???
version2, this might be what you need: http://success.grownupgeek.com/index.php/2009/03/12/bad-behavior-whitelist-inc-file/ This should allow you to whitelist your IP so you don't get blocked again by BadBehaviour. Good luck!
