I have a few issues about the recent quality ads and I am hoping to appeal to those who are in the network. First of all, what is this: aparaty cyfrowe, testy, forum, kamery cy I am assuming that is a non english anchor test (hoping really) And my main appeal is PLEASE do something about your capitalization. Go into your account today and check your ads. If you have something like: cash advance Please change it to: Cash Advance I have no intention of hiding the ads on my site as I want to stay true to the idea behind the Coop Network. Please take just a few moments of your time and fix your ads so they display correctly. 95% of the ads are perfectly acceptable but it is the 5% that drive me crazy.
Agreed... some specific guidelines were put up today also: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/guidelines.html Ads not adhering to the guidelines (for example all lower case ads) won't be approved for rotation anymore BTW.
Can we have somewhere to report current bad ads. Maybe a form that asks for the url thats connected to the Ad Network Page (after logging in). I would love to see all the lower case ads be corrected or gone.
That is great - could we Europeans please request that the list of undesirable and not allowed ads include Guns and Knives. We have a Law [here in the UK] that prohibits such things as knives with blades longer than 3" to be carried and of course Guns are strictly controlled. Obviously any such advertising will cause us problems so I would appreciate this small gesture of excluding such ads.
There's some CSS code floating around the forum to Capitalize all first letters of each word. Titel case I believe it's called officially. That way you don't have to rely on other people's manners.
Which still wouldn't be acceptable lol Are there plans for there to be an option what languages you would like diplayed on your site when the Related option is added? I know this may limit the usefulness for some obscure languages but is it unreasonable to ask for all your ads to be in your sites language? (I know that sounds sarcastic but its an actual question)
Why would anchor text in a different language be bad for you or your site? Surely, polish anchor text shouldn't be restricted to polish websites. That would undermice the whole idea of the network and the internet in general. As long as it's verified it's not some insult or other bad shite, I'm fine having other languages on my pages. Some character do show up a bit funky but that's prolly down to browser anf font settings I'd imagine.
I just translated the ad to tell You what it is about. I don't like this kind of ads too. To long anchor, looks terrible. I Hope the new guidelines will help to prevent this kind of ads.
Sorry, my comment wasnt directed at you. Just a general comment on the quality of the ad I am not sure about undermining the internet but the ads are not strictly an SEO thing otherwise I would just hide them. Shawn has mentioned what the grand goal of this network is and I am trying to stick to that. I know from my logs which language 99% of my visitors speak and if I am trying to deliver related ads, what is an ad my visitors dont understand adding. If I go to a completely english website and there is a block of text ads completely in russian, what does that say about how that webmaster feels about that advertising space. I understand your point of view from an SEO standpoint as a link is a link but from a visitor point of view some may not want languages that are different from their site displayed, especially in large numbers. I bring this up only because just the last day or two at least 2 out of 5 ads displayed arent in my sites language which happens to be english.
Here are some examples: ::Bücher, DVD, CD, Software günstig kauf http://www.badado.de/ Trójmiasto::http://www.wirtualny.gdansk.pl/ Gdańsk::http://www.wirtualny.gdansk.pl/ Gratis Klingeltöne http://www.free-ringtones.de.com/ diseño de paginas web http://www.web-imagen.com/ ::Kraków http://www.wirtualnykrakow.pl/
To capitolize every word, add this to your <div> tag: style="text-transform: capitalize" Also, if it's in another language it shouldn't be displayed. It's of no use to our visitors. Maybe if we treat this network as advertising rather than just link building, maybe Google will too.
Very well said. I notice there is a pulldown now for language so I would imagine this option is in the works
