    Hey all...

When I am checking a website for his backwards links (for example mydomain.com) I see sometimes 600 backlinks that 90% of them are from the domain that I am checking : Mydomain.com .

    My questions are :

    1. How come google is considering those links as backward links?

    2. Is those links are considered as good as backward links from another websites?

    3. I don't have backward links like that - How can I make sure that some of my 1500 pages (for example) in a website will considered as linking (backward links) into the homepage of the same website ?

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Guy.

I assume you are getting this information using Google's link: query? "back links" are simply links from another page pointing to the page in question... links from another page on the same site do that... links from a page on a totally different site also do that.

First, the link: query in Google is notoriously inaccurate - it never shows you all of the backlinks for your page/site.

Second, the number of internal backlinks (from other pages on your site) depends primarily on the number of other pages in your site that contain a link pointing to the original page - your competitor presumably has thousands of internal back links because s/he has thousands of pages on the site.

Navigation links, for example, customarily point back to the home page - if you have thousands of pages in a site all pointing back to the home page, the link: query will show some proportion of those.

Note that it is not clear that an internal backlink has the same "value" to PR as an external backlink, even with all other factors being equal.
