Backup procedures

    I'm a newbie and I'm trying to do a backup for my site and prepare sell it for the first time, can anyone walk me through how to go about that? Thanks

    It's fairly simple. First use your ftp to download your directory files. After that you can go to mysql then export the .sql file of the site. Or jsut use tools>export.

    Alright i'll give you step by step procedure.
    On your Wordpress Dashboard go to TOOLS, you can see it in the menus on the left of your dashboard. Under the TOOLS click the EXPORT. After that you will be asked Choose what to export. Choose the All Content if you want to export all of your content. Then under it click the DOWNLOAD EXPORT FILE. I hope this will help.

    you can take backup from your CPanel and other option is for word press site- download
    a plug-in called DB-Backup and after installed in to your plugin directory set your settings ........

    Thanks, but somehow it's not responding when I click on the download export file button, it happened to my other blogs as well. :(

    I always backup the database,wp-content folder and export via dashboard.

    why dont you try getting a plugin call backupwp, or backwpup.

    its free and does the job pretty well.

    your new owner should be able to use the restore function from the plugin to get it back online in there hosting.

    if you do it the other way dont forget they will need to change the siteurl and wpurl options in the database when they restore.
