I'm looking at ways to make doubly sure my hosting is always reachable, and a while ago I found out there are ways to redirect traffic if your hosting is down through DNS, I'm hoping soemone has some more information, or other ways you can ensure hosting is always reachable ?

As little as possible I guess. Currently my monthly hosting is $15USD and it'll be a while before I even consider dedicated etc.

I'm looking for a way to provide a quality reliable service so that people are confident using it before I move to high end solutions.

You need to have a real load-balancer(hardware) to route different if one of the machine is down :)
