Wordpress has a really useful default plugin for backing up the whole blog. After I downloaded it, I get a small little .gz file. Is there a proper way to download the backup file?

Could anyone point me to where can I find some tutorials on how to do that? Thank you.

You can open it using winzip and the .sql file can be read using notepad or wordpad - text editor.

i've never used it. I normally just download the files and do a manual db backup.

There's also a site backup functionality if you have cpanel
