Backslash into infinity - virus?

    Hello all,

    \\\\

Well, as you can see, I am having a problem with backslashes, and it just started over the last couple of days. I don't know if I have a virus or not. The computer does seem to have slowed a good deal, and whenever I go to a blank field - menu bar, search engine, here, I get an infinitely replicating series of backslashes popping off that only go away by backspacing. This also happens whenever I hit a hard return.

-see what I mean? The only thing I can do is to hit backspace to the beginning of the line, and if I'm lucky, I can get a word in which seems to stop the process. I have posted on websites, and looked for some kind of "backslash virus," but so far, no luck. Any suggestions on where to take this?

    Thanks.

Wow...is this a joke or real? My first thing to do is to pick up the keyboard, turn it upside down and give it a few good thumps. It could be something sticky down there.

No, I assure you, Col, unfortunately it's real.

-There, again. I actually thought of this and shook it out, but at least so far, that wasn't it. I wish I knew how to read the Hijack This log better, because I'd love to zap whatever is causing this to go away.

i had this problem with my cordless HP keyboard and mouse it was ok using the mouse but not the keyboard, and the fault happened with both keyboards as i bought 2 of them for 2 different pc's one online and one for just playing games and watching movies so was never online or updated.

the only thing i could see was the lights kept flashing on the sensor once i started to use the keyboard.

maybe a change of keyboard? thats what i did, the mouse and sensor i use today are the same, i just cant use the keyboard.
