I have been posting on backpage for 3 months now and have just started using Twitter. I see no or very little change in my site's traffic. Are those waste of one's time?

The key to getting traffic from Twitter is to continually work on increasing your followers. The more you have, the more spread out your links will be when you tweet them, and the more traffic you'll start getting. Keep in mind, though, that all twitter links are no-follow.

Twitter works good if you create a celebrity acount and fill it w/ gossip news, such as tom cruise, then link your site to the acount w/ twitter feed and set up an autoblog that updates both each day, youll get tons of followers what happens after that is up to you. I have a Twitter acount with thousands following me, it was good for about 150 clicks a day.

Both Phooey and jimbozs2000 thanks for sharing the info. 150 extra clicks per day will be nice. I will keep working on it.

What about backpage, is that thing effective? I post and I post and I post but I see only a click or two here and there.

I'd say spend your time on twitter. If you keep it updated, use it and get followers you can get some traffic from it.

Will really depend on how you use it and what you are wanting to promote as well though.

You need to make more intriguing posts on Backpage.

Most people don't go to the services section, and plus backpage is nofollow so it doesn't help for SEO or link buildling.

Give something away free, and capture their information.

Thanks. I also think that since it is not as popular as craigslist which gets 4 billion hits a month, no one can expect much traffic from backpage. Maybe in the future.

yea Twitter is very powerful for advertising try to build your followers as much as possible. Facebook is almost the same as twitter because you have the wall and this is just like a tweet with twitter. As far as for backpage go to alexa.com and type in backpage.com scroll down the page and it will tell you what cities get the most traffic, so you want to post mainly in those cities and if you are in the make money niche target the sales, marketing and real estate categories they will have the most traffic.
