Backordering domains

Wow I just found out about backordering domain names as I'd really like to get a domain which expires this thursday. I figured out the best place I could place a backorder would be Snapnames as register.com catches domain names for them. If I'd place a backorder on the domain there will most likely be an auction. I'm afraid they will just sell it to some advertising company as they've much more money to spend on stuff like this than me I guess.

Is there an easier (and cheaper) way to get domains which are about to expire?

    Thanks for your answer!

Is it just me or are they only a site which lists domains which will expire on a certain date?

I feel you should be looking for the date at which the domain gets deleted from the registry..

Its not the day the domain gets expired..
Check out the domain name lifecycle http://www.igoldrush.com/expired1.htm
