Create companion articles on sites like http://ezinearticles.com/ with links back to your own blog. Its kind of like guest blogging, but on your own account.

You can also ask others to write reviews of your blog/site, then you're not the one blogging.

And get some social media links! Share the page on G+ and twitter, add to stumbleupon.

When you said quality backlinks means you should build links not only on those sites that has a high page rank or authority pages. For my own experience building a related backlinks on Do follow and no follow is still a good practice to make. But the main rule is build backlinks by natural way or organic process.

First of all check site PR, DA and Niche if you found PR and DA is high and niche is relevant then create backlinks.

link building depends on the quality of your content, you cannot market bad product and expect to be successful, share your content on social network with top bloggers, if they like your content they may share it on their blog.

    I'
I've been hearing from a lot of users that Google consider the links from ezine articles to be unnatural, so i don't prefer getting back links from the ezine site. you could have a look at the search-engine land article for more details on this or you could also google it out.

Article marketing was devalued so don't think of it as your all in one solution.

Build articles with a link in each one and then build backlinks pointed at those articles.

Post on hubpages and squidoo as well. Find "parasite" type platforms where you can build a page that is dedicated just to your site, but isn't on your site, and then build more backlinks at those parasite pages/sites. Free blogs are a great way to do this also.

Build the PR of you parasites and they will push your site even higher. Your competition will hate you ;)

These days, link building is not about getting links. It's about well-thought content marketing strategy and building relationships.
To strengthen your site backlink profile, make sure that you do the things listed below:

    • Create killer content. Do your best to create awesome content that will make your website stand out!
    • Build relationships both online and offline. Relationships is what can help you gain more authority in your sphere - get on the radar of your field influences, try to make friends with the big guys of your niche, etc.
    • Create individual brands.Personalities and identities for the people behind the scenes. People are more likely to link to a person than a company.
    • Share, Share, Share. Create content and stuff that are sharable. Utilize different channels to make your content popular, and you will see that will result in lots of links.

Backlinks are the relationship amongst pages on the Internet, which allow users to navigate from a given point on the internet to the page you are looking at within your browser. Many people might think of these just as “Links” rather than “Backlinks” and this is true – but “Backlinks” describe the links coming INTO a web page or document, whilst “Links” generally refer to the outbound links from the page itself. When you ask “What are backlinks”, this is key. - See more at: http://blog.majesticseo.com/what-are-backlinks/#sthash.X9J8HTB1.dpuf
