I have some questions about backlinks:

What are they?
How are they useful?
How to calculate them?
How to increase them?

first of all - you need compose list with sites where you can place links to your site (sites catalogues, marketplace for text links etс)

second - compose content which you need to place on this resourses

third - place backlinks there

backlinks are the links posted on other sites pointing towards your site
To get higher SERP, there should be lot of number of backlinks.

 

Basically, you need to find other sites within your vertical and figure out a way to get them to like to you. Link building is a time-consuming task but it is just a necessity in this age of SEO. If you're new to the game, check out SEOBook, not sure if external links are allowed but there is a great entry on that site about the 101s of link building.

backlinks are nothing but supported links which increase weightage in search engine.

absolutely, you can get your links added in your signature and join discussion forums like these.. use digg, twitter, stumbleUpon

 

Backlink is a link recived by one web node from another webnode.......you can increase your BL by commenting on forum..

 

To know internal backlinks you can check on yahoo.com as google does not show all backlinks

 

You can also buy backlinks, but I don't recommend this. As I know, Google started to penalize sites for this.
