I use webmaster tool to check my back links. Seems the data will be updated every two weeks. I check it today, back links from 100 to 800. But seems no change in ranking.
Finally I noticed a drop in my back links. I lost almost 100 links. I had the backlinks intact at the beginning of the forum and I suggested to use webmaster tool, which I use too. and today I checked the status and found 100 links dropped so slowly but surely google is moving ahead and removing the back links based on their new unknown formula.
If you mean backlinks in google webmaster then for me just minor change but it updated for me little earlier. Now its 7.5K from 6.2K. If you are telling about backlinks in google toolbar then it has no change. (May be sometime i see change of 1. I mean from 218 to 219).
mine is still the same! I check my backlinks in google using seopen and google webmaster. still no changes. Also same thing on my blogs.
Google link check is hoplessly inaccurate by design. Go to yahoo.com and type in linkdomain:yourdomain.com for a true picture.
Buddy it shows, nofollow and external nofollow links too. BL consideration for yahoo is different, if you can check it out in Google webmaster tools than you will get that exact amount of BL's which yahoo shows.
If you mean your backlinks have dropped when using the link:domain.com search.. don't worry about it.. it is not accurate. as it has been said before in this thread, it is just a random snippet of the backlinks.. My site shows 1 backlink when using the link:domain.com search. and that 1 backlink is from within my own site.. so that goes to show how inaccurate it is.. Webmaster tools show that I have over 1000 backlinks.. Cheers James
I think the way Deleted suggested is the the best way. But Webmaster tools can go through stages of not being regularly updated.. I keep an eye on yahoos site explorer as well as Webmaster tools to get a general idea of the number of back links a site has got.. Cheers James
Well, my backlinks jumped, and I have been doing a strict job of getting links from high PR pages. Of course, Google loves reading threads like this, watching us all do the dance instead of focusing on the important stuff, like delivering quality content to our visitors
