Backlinks to redirected domain

    Hello,
I have a website with domain X. domain Y redirects to domain X.
I am exchanging links with X now, but I plan to move the website to domain Y in some time.
If I collect backlinks to domain Y now, will it still have the "power" of backlinks after moving the service to domain Y?
In other words, is linking to redirected domain valuable for that domain or for the domain it points to? I would like to know if it's reasonable to link to the Y domain already now
    Thanks

When you are redirecting domain Y to domain X then all the linking and pagerank value will be redirected to domain X if you used (301 Redirect) But after redirecting the Y domain to X it will become hard to get links pointing to domain Y because it's redirected already.

Ok thanks. So I will have to wait until I move my service to Y domain and then start collecting backlinks
