Google only shows a subset of the links it knows about your site, whereas yahoo and msn shows all links that they know to your site.

As fas as I know google index all links on your site. But shows only relevant and quality.

It means that google try to divide links on "natural" and paid (spam)

I don't think google really wants to provide all the updated bl's that it sees. Also it's cause yahoo and msn seem to care less where your links come from (minus adult/casino and related sites). that's why it's good to do directory submissions just to get an easy bump in msn/yahoo rankings...google, however doesn't look at most of the directories as a viable source for a link.

Purposely goole does not show all the back links, randomly shows some of them.

There is a war between the seo and the search engines. Basically the only people checking links are seo's or people concerned with linking and google doesnt want to show all of their cards then we as seo's can manipulate THEIR SERPS.

Its pretty cut and dry. MSN shows a ton because they are what I like to call the beginners search engine. Pretty easy to get rankings on and they show us a lot. yahoo is a little mor difficult and google would be the king. Although I have found it easier to get rankings in google over yahoo.

Here is a list to an article I wrote concerning the war between the seo and the search engine.

Also, Google only updates its database of backlinks periodically, say every couple months or so. Its the same with PageRank. Meanwhile, MSN and Yahoo! seem to continously update their backlink databases.

I would have to disagree. If your site is being crawled and you are out of the sandbox then new links that are decent should apear the next time the site where your link is crawled gets cached.

All SE's update periodiclaly because they have to wait for there bots to give them new info.

When you see no back links from google most likely you are sandboxed or not in their index yet. If you are in their index and u see no back links but you know you have them then your site might be to young still. Give your site at least 8-12 month's of maturity for google once it is created.

New links will only be shown once google does a link update not when it caches a new link.

Are you serious? lol.. I disagree. If you are out of the sandbox and your sites are being crawled and indexed and your back links ARE showing up then if you get a new inbound link that is quality it should show up pretty soon.

Back links show up to your site once the site your link is on is crawled and then cached and brought back to the search engine to reveal what was found.

I know this from experience as a link pop developer from a major dot com.

I know this from experience as a SEO in the most profitable dot com in India.
