Hey Guys, Does google update backlinks at a set time in the month or something? I know that the concept is no specific sites, but I think you'll need an example to see what I mean: Google Backlink Search for Domain Which shows no incoming links. And yet if you search for the URL without backlinks then you get a fair few results, most of which contain anchors linking back to my site which are no-follow free. Google Standard Search For URL (Indexed pages have anchors to site) Any ideas as to what gives?
To be fair no one really know "what gives" with google but backlinks still are as important as content in my mind. The more the merrier.
Till February they were updating the backlinks once in every two weeks. However it seems the Big G has not updated them since last one month. Maybe they are going to do it alongwith the PR update which is due at anytime now.
Google (at least to my understanding) can't update backlinks on a per-month or per-date basis. They use a fluid type of algorithm that updates SERPS and backlinks as pages are crawled.
Yes, off course if the content of your website is good and unique then more and more people likes to get link to your website so that's why we can say that the content is king and its the real blood and it can divert the attention of the people towards your website so we can say that if you want to generate more traffic for your website, then try to create a unique content because the first thing is to generate traffic and then from that traffic you can get some very good and relevant back links for your website...
I dont think anyone out of Google really knows how the backlinks work. Everyone knows that quantity and quality matters, and dofollow and nofollow matters. However, nobody knows the exact algo.
Yes, but what I'm saying is - if it has indexed pages which contain the link, why doesn't it acknowledge them in the backlink search?
Google keep updating BL regulerly I thing but only once in 2-3 months updating their server to make visible for users...if use webmaster tool we can see the updation
Use the Google webmaster dashboard tools to check your back links, just doing a link:site.com search won't show all of the links especially if your site is a relatively new low authority site. I also use Yahoo's site explorer to check back links which updates much faster than Google.
I always thought Google updated sites on some kind of internal priority basis, like the way sitemaps are handled or pages are indexed. Regardless, backlinks are so heavily weighed upon in Google, and it's a shame. This is probably what will allow it to be overtaken by other search engines, especially when the general public (not referring to internet marketers) get frustrated with crappy search results.
Those that claim Google updates back links once a month or every 6 months are purely speculating. However when they do update them you are able to see some portion on your goggle webmaster, I check mine at least once or twice a week and have not noticed any recent update to back-links. I do suspect we are due for a PR and some major serp changes soon though. There has been quite a few indications of changes coming like drop in traffic, people reporting back-links dropping, and general movement of serps. so here it come just when.......
I think they constantly crawl and then update whenever they see something they consider a significant change on a site.
There's no set time.. I know it updated my backlinks almost right after I got started building them.. So I only got a few indexed. But I'm continuing to build them so hopefully the next time around i will have *many* more.
