Hi, i've got a dutch link dir but it doesn't really work. I've got almost no backlinks. So i tought, maybe with a content ppl will say "lets backlink or buy a links". But it doesn't really work. Now i've got no content and no backlinks. The question is: -Whats more important? 20 backlinks or 50 links content? -What should I do with my linkdir now? dude, first and foremost, welcome to the club. Secondly, think u better do alot of reading through these forums and you'll get a pretty good idea of what goes on in the marketing of directories. It will be very rare for ppl to voluntarily place links to your site on theirs as they do not benefit at all. So purchase backlinks and submission to other directories is usually the way to go at the start. Content building is equally important and it is like saying, which is more impt: the fingers or the palm? You need to work on both concurrently. Do your homework and start on the right feet, that's my advice to you
Hi Welcome! As jl255 pointed out- you can't do without the other. While having good contents and thus people naturally linking you is an idea that works in ideal world --I think one has to really put in some money to build links. At the same time if you don't want to give away un-necessary free listing --just browse the net and add the best websites for each category and that should take care of it. One thing is sure --you must advertise something to get returns --otherwise even the biggest companies would not have a budget of billions of $$ for advertisement.
