The link is probably picked up already, but it takes some time before it actually shows up ;)

Remember that Alexa has nothing to do with the update frequency. A 15 Million Alexa might get visited more by Google's bot than a 15K Alexa website ;)

What are you using to check your backlinks?

There could be several reasons for them not showing up, but how long ago did you exchange links?

Honestly don't bother worrying about it, your spending all this time worrying about when these backlinks will show up, when you could be building more backlinks to your website, if the backlink is there, it'll be indexed sooner or later, that's just part of the SEO game, you've got to wait around for backlinks to show up, plus be prepared for them to drop in huge numbers.

For example I had a website go up 1k backlinks over night, lasted a week and it dropped back down, this was due to the 'recent comments' widget on some wordpress blogs, I was given a backlink on every page on somebody's blog, which had 1,000+ pages, giving me 1,000+ backlinks, until my comment was knocked off the 'recent comments' widget.

It's all about knowing what is going on with SEO, for example I checked out the links and I knew they were going to drop, so I just carried on building backlinks, but if I didn't know they were going to drop, I'd of stopped building backlinks for that website and put more time onto another project.

You just have to analyse pretty much everything, while trying to optimize everything, you've also got to remember the fact that many backlinks will take a long time (Months sometimes) before showing up, so that backlink you built 3 months ago, might just pop up sometime.

well i guess the only reason i am concerned really is because its hard to trade links with all these stuck up jacks on here...they are always like you got no links or pr0 so im waiting for them to hit

Well your page rank isn't going to update overnight, it takes a couple of months of good link building before you'll see a pagerank increase, personally my advice would be to stick to building large amounts of links, while using link-exchanges to bring in high pagerank backlinks, which will prevent your new website from getting sandboxed.
