I want to write a article for wikipedia about one of my website and have a link to my website. Is it worth all the work just for that one link? Has anyone done it? How good of a backlink is it?
Yes. Although there no follow a lot of seo experts feel that Google does pass some value to these no follow links after they've been there a good length of time, as wikipedia is so trusted it makes sense for Google to look at these links. Also wikipedia content gets scraped a lot and when the content is posted onto other blogs and sites the links can become do follow.
If your site has adsense, the link and article will be promptly deleted. Links from wikipedia are nofollow but some people copy articles from there and may give you dofollow links.
I have multiple links on Wikipedia, yes they are nofollow, but my traffic logs have shown visitors coming from Wikipedia, so there is value in it.. might not help your PR, but could get you some visitors.
Links from wikipedia are dofollow. They have no real SEO value. But they can drive traffic to a site.
I don't think it has an SEO value, but you do get traffic from it. I think it's worth it, it makes your site more credible.
It's tough to get your links on Wikipedia. I do have a link on Spanish wikipedia for some reason that gives me decent traffic.
If any one feels that the link is placed(in wiki) just for getting a back link, most probably it will be removed.
Nofollow has no PR value. Listen to Matt Cutts here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4UJS-LFRTU&feature=related
If you are able to get a link in Wikipedia it is unlikely to stay for any length of time. Give the smaller wikis a try.
Links on WP can drive traffic to your site, and if you are lucky (yes for this it actually is lucky) enough to get a load of people scraping that WP page, then you can get dofollows and traffic. Groovy.
Nofollow has no PR value but who really cares about PR anymore? is it 1999 again The real value is in the serps
SEO and traffic are two different things. WP links can drive traffic to your site IF that page is getting a lot of viewers, but it does NOT help with PR, so it doesn't not help with SEO. It is also getting tougher to get articles up on Wikipedia. They are cracking down on people who just want to create articles for the backlink. They look for notable sources and promptly delete pages that they deem to be marketing pieces. You're better off writing an article, spinning it and posting it to multiple directories IMHO.
if your website is big and gets lots of traffic (millions UV) than you'll be able to create an article about your website and a backlink to it, but if your website is small, than your article will be deleted. I tried to create an article about my website and in couple of hour it was deleted.
