Backlinks from the same IP?

Recently, i've been considering offering free hosting off my dedicated server, purely because i've got PLENTY of free resources available. If i was to offer free hosting, i'd offer it on the condition that they backlinked to one of my website.

Now these websites are all hosted on the same server, which i have 16 different IP's for. What i really want to know, is, would this be worth my while, or would Google discount the backlinks on the basis they're all from the same IP's?

I do know that Google tracks IP for links. Whether they hold the same value as an internal link, or hold no value at all I don't know.

Links from the same IP (and I've heard similar IPs) are all discounted in one fashion or another...but then, all have to help on some level as well. If you get 100 pages with your link on them, and 10 of those pages are getting GREAT search engine positions, then you are bound to find at least some benefit from such links, even if it's just click through to your own page.

Yes...assuming the sites you are hosting are worth reading and actually give that link back. Never mind PR, or even help in the SERPS with such a thing. What you'll be getting is free text link ads, each with the potential for click through.

You may wish to look into something like wordpressMU or some other blogging platform. Blogs are still the 'lastest craze' and links from them may be the easiest to maintain. At least something like this could take care of one of your IPs :D

    Best of luck!

    Hello,

Yes, Google looks around IP backlinks, you should have link for different IP C Classes.

    My 2 cents,

if you want to use it for creating backlinks for your, create a different ip for the other sites. google looks the ip of backlinks. if they are on the same ip, they will not be counted as backlinks

Hogwash. I recently got a site ranking with nothing else but a link from another site of mine that was on the same IP. It may be that there is some sort of adjusted weight on it, but they are definitely counted.

I don't think the links if they are on your server will be worth much to google.

This is a vital but almost invisible problem to newbies.

So, try to host and registrar in different host in case of multiple site.
Never try to do it by creating new IP by proxy.

    Correction:
Hosting in different server is more important than registrant.

i have a question, if i have a bunch of domains with prime keywords that i want goood search engine ranking for, should i develop each of these domains with some article content and with links to my main site that i want all the traffic to eventually end up? and do each of these domains should be on a separate ip to get better rank/indexing from ?

it is because my main established site does not rank high for some of these domains that have good keywords that i want my main site to rank in, so i am thinking of developing each of these domains with small article content and then link to my main site...

whats the best way to go about doing this?

any help will be appreciated, thanks!
