I'm trying to improve my rankings for my new project and I was looking at the backlinks for #1 and #2 ranked site for the keywords I want. I found out even if they have something like 30K - 100K backlinks, a lot comes from the same domains (link at bottom of webpage). From a Google point of view, if you have 2k backlinks from the same domain, is it seen as just 1 backlink or really as 2k? Thanks!
But let say it's in a forum signature. Everyone on this board put some of their sites in the sig to get backlinks...How does Google see that?
I think the main reason people put links in forum signatures is for direct traffic. Google's algorithm is based on "unbiased votes" (links) for a website. All site wide links are devalued... i.e. everything else being the same, 10 links from 10 different sites carry much more weight than 10 links from the same site.
All links from the same domain will count as a vote from that domain. Any more than one well placed link on the same domain is of little value.
if links are from same domain, try placing them on different pages, all with good PR, it wont make a big difference but PR does matter
