I'm new to link building & research. One of my sites is showing links from 53 referring domains. I looked further and discovered that 33 of those domains expired recently this past December and January. I'm assuming they may have been owed by the same SEO company or link building service that I purchased links from 1-2 years ago. These links are probably hurting my rankings. My question is because these domains expired will those pages eventually get deindexed? Will the links be removed and no longer be counted by Google? There is no owner to contact because the sites no longer exist. Is there still a need to create a disavow file? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi IceCreamTruck, Because the domains have expired it will get de-indexed from search engines. I wouldnt worry too much about these NOW. It's actually good that they all expired because they were probably hurting you before by coming from the same IP which signals Google that its a link network. How are you able to see these domains? If you are using some tools (apart from Google webmaster tools) then its worth checking if the sites are actually still indexed? Sometimes the tools have their own index (like ahrefs) and sites included in their index doesnt mean that sites are indexed in Google. I would relax about these now.
