Linking to any site that has higher page rank and large number of back links is always beneficial. Digital point obviously have these.
Definitely you will get benefit but have you have seen that how many links are posted in one thread. Remember the more the number of link on the page the less the PR juice will pass to you. Ulitmately the DP does not have any PR on its thread so you will not get any benefit of it. Yes one thing you get is the traffic and that too if someone likes your anchor text or link.
I don't think you guys know so I will settle this. Few points : DP is a nofollow forum, therefore sig links do not count to search engines ie) Google (FACT) DP will not increase your PR (FACT) DP will not give you high PR backlinks (FACT) Only upside is that if your link is in your post it will count, but won't be high PR, and DP doesn't like people posting URL's!
All I am saying is that it is not the wisest thing to place a sig link and post incredible amounts per day. I can post one comment on a PR7 blog post and in the end if you look at it : 1000 PR0 no follow links as appose to a PR7 link from a quality blog. The PR7 link is still on top and only takes me max of 5 mins,
There are a lot of outbound links at DP so the link juice get diluted down quite a bit. It is a great way to get a new site indexed quickly though. Bill
He is correct! The other post about DP being Nofollow is wrong (unless it's written into the HTAccess). As for the sigs and links they are not nofollow.
I wonder why that guy is saying DP is nofollow forum. I just check it and it is do-follow. So you will get backlink from DP. I have two pr3 pages here in DP. One is my profile, other one is my old thread.
I only recently joined DP, and have noticed that I am already picking up a number of backlinks from the site.
You definitely will see them taking up much of your 1000 backlinks for the search engines. They probably have pretty limited value toward SERPs and PR, but they likely don't hurt much. You may get some traffic from forums as well.
I, along with most other DPers, am not on Digital Point to accumulate either post count or PR. I couldn't care less about post count, and I don't give a moment's thought to how much PR juice DP sig links give me. I'm on Digital Point for the exchange of information helpful to webmasters. Period. I should add: DP signature links do indeed bring traffic.
DP is one of the few forums with 'dofollow' external links. http://www.iwebtool.com/visual/?domain=forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=648729&nofw=1&ex=1
You want to know for sure? 1. Add a link to a brand new page in your sig. 2. Track the frequency of googlebot visits to that page. 3. Compare that to the frequency of googlebot visits to one of your other pages. High frequency means juice is passing, because crawl frequency is closely related to PageRank.
This is true and easy to check. The count a little, but sure they have some effect. But this forum is great to gather valuable information. That is enough, links are an extra bonus
